    by replaced filters i mean the cartridges because they were so clogged with waste, hardly any water was coming out of the flow vents. The tank has been set up as "brackish" for about 3 months now, this change I did gradually...until I was satisfied with the salinity reading.

    HELP! My violet gobi has suddenly started poking his head out of the water in a vertical fashion, and stays there.... checked water tests, did a 1/2 water change because readings were on the high side... is this normal behavior for a gobi?

    cloudy water

    Ixneh on the cloudy..the tank has stabilized and after doing a gentle scrubbing of the glass is no longer cloudy...whew! thought I had done something wrong.

    I did a partial water change so I could vacume the bottom of the tank. Yes I rinsed the sand very well, and added it before I added the new water. All readings are good, and gobi is happily digging..but the water is still cloudy and still have white film on glass.

    um think you missed the question... I add the salt when I do a water change..what I am saying is immediately after the water change my salinity reads on my hydrometer...then a couple of days later it doesn't register on the hydrometer...and why so much slime white on the glass??? is this normal?

    wow Easy there guys..!! LOL Ok...so my puffers are going to get a 2 gal water change every other week with marine salt added to the water. And sorry (new to the terms) Was thinking of turning my 35 gal into a brackish tank for the gobi, but i gotta ditch the FW first...or....buy a brackish set...
