    CO2 Tank

Hey y'all. I'm just getting back into the hobby after being out of it since 2018. I've got a CO2 tank and regulator that I used back then, but I didn't run the tank empty. So question is, should I return to where I filled it and get it refilled, or use it how it sits right now? Would the...

    Co2 regulator

Thank you Bert! I definitely don't want to go the half coke bottle route just for aesthetic purposes.

    Co2 regulator

Funny you mention that. I'm using an AC50 right now for this tank which is a 20 High. As soon as I have extra money for a light for my 40b, the CO2 is going on that tank. And I'm considering the Planted+. I do not want to switch to a canister filter. 1 being money and 2 being that I'm...

    Co2 regulator

I couldn't find much on internal reactors. The cheap diffuser i have now is junk. I'll just upgrade that one. I have an HOB filter anyway.

    Co2 regulator

So if I use a reactor instead, the low WP isn't an issue? What reactor are you using? I'll look into the internal reactors and brush up on my knowledge of them. I've never used one.

    Co2 regulator

I haven't seen the WP go about 22 psi at all. Usually 18-20 psi. I cannot find any resolutions either. Yes, the regulator is past the return phase. I bought it January 2016 and just now finally set the darn thing up.

    Co2 regulator

I can only seem to get 20 psi, but everything I've read says you should be around 35 psi, give or take. If I turn the needle valve counterclockwise to open it, the psi drops. Obviously this is my first go-around with co2 lol. What am I doing wrong? I'm using my diffuser as my bubble counter and...

    DIY 40g breeder stand question

Thank you! Adding the extra legs was definitely a good idea. I still want to try the polystyrene, but I'll return it and get my $8 back :)

    DIY 40g breeder stand question

Dangggg! I wish my floor joists were that big! I'll add more legs to create an L. Doesn't hurt to have more support. I'm not sure what I'll do for plants or stocking yet, but I'll browse around on here and get a good idea.

    DIY 40g breeder stand question

Hmm, I haven't heard of tanks cracking while using polystyrene. I guess anything is possible though. This stand will be on carpet, and under the carpet is a floor from 1952. So I doubt it'll be level. The polystyrene is supposed to make any imperfections "okay". But, I can see if a section...

    DIY 40g breeder stand question

Oh, I see. On the side. There are two other screws into it on the front and back. I have 50 screws in this thing. However, there is no stress on any of the screws. I hammered in verticle pieces too for between the top and bottom horizontal pieces. Then I put 5 or 6 screws into that as you can...

    DIY 40g breeder stand question

"just a nail into the 2 x4 like you have isn't going to support much" I've got all screws in this, not nails. But where are you talking about?

    DIY 40g breeder stand question

When I finish it tomorrow, I'll have two more legs on the back side, two pieces on the sides to kind of tie it all together, and possibly plywood on top. But I've got polystyrene that will go under the tank to help self-level.

    DIY 40g breeder stand question

Even if plywood helps, I'm not sure I'll like the lip. I'll shorten the pieces that need to be shortened. Anyway, here's a better picture. I definitely like the design. Found it on YouTube by a guy named Greg Jones. Probably going to put some tongue and grove-like boards on the side, then stain...

    DIY 40g breeder stand question

I guess worst case I can take the 5 pieces out that are running front to back, shorten them, then screw them back in. Just wanted to avoid back tracking.

Corners of the tank? What about cutting plywood to fit and screwing that down to the top?

    DIY 40g breeder stand question

Alright, so I'm 95% done with my tank stand, just have to add 2 more verticle braces to the left and then 2 cross braces on either side. But before I got to that I realized I made a mistake! I cut the top center 2x4 to exactly 18 1/4 inches. Oops! Should've been 15 1/4. My question is (since I...

    Dwarf puffers

A rule that I went by when I kept DP's a few years ago was 5g per dwarf puffer. However, if your tank is heavily planted to where the sight lines are broken up really well, you can get away with 3 gallons per DP after 5 gallons for the first. I.e. 8 gallons for 2, 11 gallons for 3, etc...

Wow! Simply stunning. That is one of the the most appealing cichlid tanks that I've seen. Awesome stand, too!

Haha! That's too funny. A store worker who knows dwarf puffers well, would get a kick out of you saying that! Sent from my SM-G925V using Aquarium Advice mobile app

How do I know if I need more light

Funny thing is, dwarf puffers need 5 gal per fish, so I essentially had double the space for them AND they had snails, black worms, blood worms, and dried brine shrimp. They had such a variety of foods that it was ridiculous! With all those choices, they still were intrigued with the ghost...
