Maybe the best purchase I have made.

Cyano not back yet. Not sure about vacuuming and how often I will do it but it really seems to have a difference. Maybe do it again if needed. I did purchase 2 sand sifting stars fish hopefully this will aid in keeping it clean along with snails and hermits. The circulation for my 55g tank...

Maybe the best purchase I have made.

Sorry for the delay but I have been busy with jobs and etc., plus the aquarium. First off as far lighting time and coral I do not have any coral now. Trying to let the tank settle out first. I checked my water parameters 2 more times and still 0's or not detected. With that being said I decided...

Maybe the best purchase I have made.

I have often wandered about avoiding the sun but buying light s that closely mimics the sun. This is all a learning curve for me. Can adding supplements for Coraline be some of my issues? Calcium and magnesium. Probably replacing t5 ho 10,000k bulbscheap i have cheap off brand. Just want it gone!

Maybe the best purchase I have made.

Maybe it is a series of events that has come together. Perhaps just the tank maturing, it is almost 4 months old now. Not really sure but it seems to making a difference. Oddly enough everything I have read, everyone I have talked to has said to avoid sunlight. But it seems to be working for...

Maybe the best purchase I have made.

I have made a couple of post and read several post about cyano bacteria and gathered tons of info. And after a few treatments with chemi-clean, numerous water changes, changes in feeding, and adjusting my lighting cycles I recently made a purchase that seems to be helping more than anything...

    Cyano???

I have 2 actinic 2 10k 48" t5ho about 3 months old. I agree with you about the water parameters but I have had it tested by 2 lfs and the same. It will drift some between testing nitrates climbed to around 5ppm and phosphates around 0.24ppm. I am assuming cyano reddish brown hair like algae...

    Nitrates back????

I started a 29g saltwater in early November and the tank cycled and #'s were fine. Then I bought a 55g in early December and transferred 60 lbs of live rock and 20lbs of live sand over from the cycled aquarium. I also put 30lbs more of live sand. I didn't transfer water from the old tank mainly...

    Starting over i guess.

The 55g is set up about 8" from the 29g so keeping it wet shouldn't be an issue.

    Starting over i guess.

I had previously posted about some complications I had transferring my 29g fresh into salt. Well that has settled out I have no ammonia, nitrite, or nitrates and ph is good testing this at least every other day. And the diatoms are starting disappear, not coming back as fast after cleaning. I...

    New to Saltwater

As I a stated earlier I have bought and read 2 books, reviewed countless threads, talked to several people, and compiled a notebook full of notes. I wish I would have done more. The biggest change I would make would be drilling the tank for sump/refug. After going through everything I thought...

I am not color blind but maybe "shade" blind. I had my wife look at my test samples and she had a complete different reading than I had of the results. So I have had my water tested by 2 different stores one of them 3 times by 3 different people and all of the readings were great. The green...
