Have just bought a D&D 10W UV unit, it recommends a flow rate of no more than 500l/hr but I am having real trouble finding a self priming pump that will get anywhere near this???? The closest I have got is by hanging the unit off the lid of my tank & running a Maxijet MP1200 powerhead, this...

Got a Banggai yesterday from LFS, must stress it came home FINE from him... Got up this morning & it has a lump attached to it, couldn't really see whether it was part of the fish or not, looked not though..... It was suggested a fresh water dip might remove it if it wasn't part of the fish...

I have only 1 fish in my tank atm, its a strawberry gramma, supposedly a peaceful fish but he's causing grief or so I think? He was added to the tank 12 days ago with a peppermint shrimp which he hassled right from the word go... I was told this is natural & it should settle down? The...

Well here's a tip from one newbie to any others reading this: Today after speaking to my LFS who agreed the tank has cycled I decided to do some last minute aqua-scaping, big water change to bring the Nitrates down & then use reef putty to hold it together since I'm only working with a small...

    De-ionised water question.

I have tried using a tap water purifier here, which hasn't worked out for me. I can't have an RO unit as I'm on a water meter & it would be way too expensive! Is de-ionised water actually better than RO water or another form of? My wife can get proper de-ionised water in 25litre containers...

Another question! Got a Prizm Deluxe skimmer for my 30gal (UK) tank & with it comes a "free" bag of active carbon & holder to go within the skimmer. I have read some books, looked at some sites & it seems they all agree its worth using carbon, but & the big but is how long you leave it in...
