    Do what works best for you. If your not having any problems with the fish in its current living conditions then who is getting hurt? Your not thinking clear if you think the tang will be alright forever, but currently no harm done.

    Like I said 12g is just going to be difficult for your first tank. In the beginning you will be doing a lot of testing, at home If you buy your own test kits or constantly running back to the fish store. For tht and water as well. Do you live in a apartment? Hauling buckets up stairs gets old...

    Is this your first tank? HOB filter is least of your worries, there are many other devices that push way more water. Look into a Aqua C remora protein skimmer. That thing will do work on. A 10 gallon. But either way the tiny amount of water is going to need frequent water changes to stay...

    12 g is not easy to house 2 fish in. Your goona be doing a lot of water changes. To smaller the tank the more care required. Your under gravel filtration has to go, it's out dated form of filtration and won't last long. Honesty a 12 g tank for a newbie reefer is not a good idea in my opinion...

    Substrate Question

    Want a permanent solution? Sand conch. 2 per 30 gallons...I had red cyano growing, never saw it again. My buddie could never get rid of his algae growing on the sand bed, whole year he was sucking it up once a week. Sand conch solved it all. Idk of there eating it or just walkin all over it...

    Brand new to this

    You can pop a mushroom or some Xenia depending on the results of your water test. But those corals are hardy , maybe not the prettiest but hard to kill.
