    Need Help ID'ing some growth

First pic on the right side of the green rock. Second pic growing all over intake tube. It's greyish in color. South American predator tank. Java fern only plants, 10 hrs of light daily. Any ideas? Should I just pull it out and clean or is it harmless? Been growing about two weeks now.

    Eco-complete question

I just bought a 20 pound bag of Eco-complete substrate, for my 20 gallon planted tank. Just wondering if I should layer with sand or mix? Or just pure eco-complete only. The tank will be a RCS breeder tank with low light plants.

    New Cichlid tank!

Unless you have purchased some good lighting. Some low light stuff like java fern would be good. It's hardy and shouldn't be planted but attached to drift wood or rocks. Some African cichlids will just dig up plants in the substrate or eat them.

    Starting a shrimp farm

I wish to start a RCS tank for breeding also. I already breed endlers in a seperate tank for feeders. I wanted to chime in with a question. How fast will they produce feeder sized shrimp? And would a bigger tank allow for a more plentiful harvest so to speak? I wanted to try it in a 20 gallon.

    First Fish!?

Cherry barbs and rosie barbs are cool fish also, I have kept with tigers no problems. They are also less nippy IME. Adds another color to a schooling mix as well.

Starting Again - Bigger Tank - Filter Help Please

I also believe undergravel filters are more of a problem than a solution. A good hob filter would be best for the $. Unless you can afford a canister.

Starting Again - Bigger Tank - Filter Help Please

I don't know how many gallons a 127 liter is but I don't think clown loaches are ok in there. They can reach 1 ft in length and should be kept I'm schools of 4 minimum I believe.

    Prime Odor

I read the label and sniffed mine, no smell? But past couple days its pretty nasty. So I'm in the same boat, had no smell at first, but about the 5-6 time I used it I noticed the smell.

Where do you get your driftwood?

Yea, I'm gonna walk my creek soon. But right now its a balmy 20 degrees, so probably wait for it warm up a little first. Creek most likely is froze over anyhow.

What kind of fish is this?

Oh, well mistakes are made. Don't worry I won't attack your personal decisions like others on this site. Good luck on the 125, I just got one myself. You can never judge what Amy fish will do IMO. All you cam do is try.

At wits end with 29gal cycle - help!

Never replace filter cartridges, unless they are falling apart. I have used nutrafin instant cycle and it has worked wonders for me personally.

    Fishtank Lighting

Ok, here it is. One 30$ shop light from westlake hardware. Make sure to get a unit with a hood that is half a circle and the lights are recessed into the unit. Then pick up foam tape ( one sided weather stripping) Then apply strips to edges of hood. Tada, only works for glass...

    Euthanasia

If you are prepared for it, blunt force trauma is best period. I can do it in a five gallon bucket just like a water change. Hold them one last time and end it in less than a second. I understand its two hard for some, I'm a hunter and fisherman, one thing we teach in our family is a clean kill...

Oscar with troubling spot on head

What about em? Haha just kidding, I don't think the medication would hurt, just have to read the label. And the salt shouldn't do anything either. If you use salt, make sure you get freshwater salt and dose about a teaspoon for every 10 gallons. Sorry I wish I had more insight for ya. Actually...
