Pls identify algae good or bad?

The green looks like hair algae. It is hard to remove from rocks but, a lawnmower blenny will eat it up.

    Aptasia?

I would say yes. I have seen plenty that size on fresh wild rock.

    Glass tops

I'm not sure if it's true or not but I always leave my glass tops off because I think they diffuse UV

    diatoms?

I just up graded from a 45 hex front corner tank to a 54 bow front corner tank about 3 months ago. The original system had been running for just over a year. I re-used the same sand bed, live rock and water. I made the entire switch in less than an hour but, I still had a mini cycle of some sort...

    Whats this

I think it's a breeder box that hangs inside the tank and circulates fresh aquarium water through it via the air pump connection at the bottom of the skimmer section

    Unidentified fish

I was just coming to tell you it's a triple tail. When read that you caught it floating near weeds I knew it right away. But I see someone already beat me to it

    Unidentified fish

I'm not sure but it looks alot like a grouper I caught once while fishing from a pier in south Florida.

    Can someone help me please.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. It does seem pointless to pay for a five stage filter when two of them (the carbon blocks) don't compliment one another at all. I did feel the PWC unit better fit my budget but, the fact that the adapter/valve included is faulty and needs to be replaced adds to...

    Can someone help me please.

Hi, I have a question for rutrag. I just requested the ro unit from pure water club for my birthday next month. Reading your post it seems your not impressed with yours. I'm wondering what you don't like about it? Maybe I should continue shopping for a different brand? Any suggestions? It has to...

    Algae Control(clean-up crew)

Carey is right. You should never see an ammonia spike unless something large dies and is left in the water

    Algae Control(clean-up crew)

    Hi, if I remember correctly the number is 1.5 per gallon so, 90 x 1.5 = 135

It's hard to tell from your pic but, they look like palys to me.

    Beach shells and rock

That should be fine as long as there is no metal in the rocks. Maybe soak them in saltwater for a few days first to make sure they won't rust, dissolve or, Discolor the water. You could also boil the shells if you think there is any meat left in them to pollute your water.

What could I put in a 29g bio cube?

You should definitely have a protein skimmer. It removes many organic compounds that are too fine for an external filter to catch. Another benefit is that the protein skimmer actually removes these compounds from the water before they break down into nitrates unlike an external filter which will...

    Killer

Hi, I had a white spot outbreak two years ago after adding a yellow tang. After looking at all the "reef safe" chemicals I decided none of them were worth the risk. At that time setting up a separate tank was out of the question so I figured the fish in my system were doomed. As a last ditch...

Help! Losing my mind with this ammonia

Not sure but I would think if the salt in the water is at detectable levels I would use the saltwater test.

Help! Losing my mind with this ammonia

Is your test kit for freshwater and saltwater? Not all test kits work in both fresh and saltwater.

Help! Losing my mind with this ammonia

Hi, I was reading your thread and wanted to say even without live rock your tank should have cycled within two months. The fact that you have clowns living in there that long without any ill effects makes me wonder if there is any ammonia in your tank at all. Especially with the fact that you...
