    BBA and fancy goldfish

There is a lot of black brush algae growing on my plants. I wasn't able to find any information if BBA is good or bad for fancy goldfish. I understand I may have too little CO2 but I don't want to go high tech or buy tones of flourish excel to combat this and already my lighting is about 6...

    Switching to bare bottom

Hi Shanny great to hear you decided to try BB. I have a canister filter so it has lots of media inside and I was able to remove all the gravel in one shot. I would suggest taking out half the gravel initially and then checking the water params after a day or so and if everything is ok then...

White stringy poop from black moor

Ok i will switch to veggies for a bit. Afterwards, should small bits of shrimp be fed at every meal or should it only be fed once in a while. The shrimp have a lot of protein from my understanding and this would promote wen growth and growth in general?

White stringy poop from black moor

Recently I started feeding my goldfish dried frozen shrimps mixed with their regular food. I noticed that the black moor is now pooping very thin white strands. Is there anything wrong with him? Water conditions are normal and he is swimming fine otherwise.

20 Gallon Planted Goldfish Tank Questions?

I have a bare bottom planted goldfish tank with medium sized rocks to hold down the plant roots. It has worked well for me so far and the plants provide extra oxygen. Just be careful with the placement of the rocks as the fish could try to squeeze in the cracks when looking for food and get...

    Water change question

Fish are most sensitive to large temperature changes from what I understand. Make sure to temperature match and add declorinator and you should be fine.

Oranda has blood in one eye

I don't have any sharp objects in the tank and it is bare bottom. There are some larger round rocks and sometimes they try to sqeeuZe in between the rocks to search for food. Maybe he did that to himself??

    Seeking goldfish food that sinks

I recently switched from hilkari to Omega one. The omega one sinking pellets have more "whole" foods listed in their ingredients. Fish seem to be growing faster too with Omega one. Also bit less expensive here in North America :)

    Fancy goldfish tank

Fish are doing well. Thanks to all your help/advice JLK :) Bare bottom lets them eat all the food and definitely makes cleaning easier. Really worth considering if you have goldfish!

    Goldfish General

You are probably seeing nitrate rise so quickly because you are overstocked. With a 20 gallon you would have 1 goldfish ideally. Two fancies only if you are willing to do more water changes or if you have a large established bio filter.

    Goldfish General

20ppm nitrates in two days is a lot. It could be due to several reasons: the tank is too small/filtration is not adequate/overfeeding/something rotting in the tank. What type of filter do you have?
