I have only seen them and purchased them at a petland near me, which is surprising since they usually dont have a great selection. But they seem to have these readily available at all times. but like I said, not always a great stock, that could also be due to lack of care from the employees.

I probably clean out the housing more then the sponges themselves, I have had a filter stop working due to the small propeller (or whatever you call it lol) getting clogged and not being able to spin. So I do take my filters apart quite often. I guess I hadnt realized that my sponges needed more...

Yes I do have the biomax insert in all my filters. I have cleaned out a sponge from each filter and will probably do the others tonight. They are fairly new so I dont think I'll need to replace them as long as I can get most of the crud out. They are still floating but I'm assuming it's because...

So if I have four sponges in total I could probably clean one of them each week? Every time I do a water change How often would I clean the one in my ten gallon? I only have one sponge in there so I'm worried about losing bacteria

Okay well I'll try that, right now my filters are barely working because the sponges are so high up, even with the lids taped. I'll try cleaning a sponge tonight and replacing another.

how do you guys clean your sponges and how often?

I actually just cleaned them, squeezed the sponges out and rinsed them out in tank water, they still want to float.

I have a lid and bio bag on top of the sponge, the sponge is tight in the basket, but the basket is not tight in the filterso not only does the sponge float to the top but the basket will pop out on one side causing the lid to raise up. It does this with both my filters for my 75 gallon, but...

how do you guys get your filter sponges and things to stay down? mine keep floating to the top of the filters and im worried they will overflow. i have aquaclears

agree, no cories with your africans, you could add maybe some catfish, i believe people usually add syno cats with africans? correct me if im wrong. although its always risky

you need to vent them, its the only sure way to tell with labs, google how to vent a fish and im sure you will get some good information, it can be a bit difficult if you aren't familiar with it

all you are ever going to get is negative comments when you make posts like this, everyone knows its wrong, you know its wrong. so lets add more fish? sorry, but do you not have common sense? why make the problem worse?

you should be planning out your purchases a little better then this.. and didnt we discuss it in one of your other threads that the actual name of the species of fish you just bought is maingano?

also its less confusing if you call them maingano instead of johanni, which is an entirely different species then what you have :)

you need more then two, they will kill each other off before you get any fry.
