I think i will go the low tech natural way and get T5NO and no co2 or excel and let the plants grow slower. I have seen some great looking low tech tanks with no co2, and im almost broke anyways lol

I dont know much about barbs and if they school with other species. You are not even close to being fully stocked with the 5 tetras and 4 barbs. Have you decided on anything else? Then you can see if your close to being stocked.

The light is only 1 wpg in my tank, but it is T5, and I have read that it should be plenty, but not so much that i need co2. I probably wont even dose excel, but i will get quality ferts. The growth will be slow, but I dont mind, less trimming lol

A large school of of over 10 rummynose tetra would look good in my opinion. I would up your barb schools first however.
