    Sorry ain't been here in a while 10 hours a day is sufficient anything more than that is just wasting electricity you don't need a uv sterilizer there nice to have if you need them but as you put corals in the sterilizer will kill any natural food your system creates plankton rotifers copepods...

    First thing those are mushrooms they don't require to much light your t5 fixtures will be fine Second getting your nitrates down. Is water changes. I do at minimum 40% per month this will keep them under control. Also a good Skimmer will help as well sounds like he wasn't doing water changes...

    As for fish in a 90 yellow Yang is OK dwarf angels are fine. Bue hippo tangs get quite large over time if u want one get it small and let it grow you may eventually have to get rid of it just keep it in mind most lfs's will take them once there to large or by then you may have a bigger tank

    Did he clean the detritus out of the sand if not u should definitely rinse and clean it I would do it anyway so you know you have a clean start

    If there 16"x8 1/2" you should only need two to cover a 48" long tank imo just trying to save you some $ great deal. By the way make sure they get the correct plugs I ordered a titanium heater once direct from China it came with a plug for Europe

    I paid $30 bucks at a not so lfs for it it had 9 heads when I got it five months ago its now at 22 heads and starting to split again

    No that's good to know aren't they in Indiana I live in Illinois may have to take a drive in a month or so and check them out. I've been to Inland Aquatics about 10 years ago they had a incredible facility and were captive breeding and raising clownfish. It was worth the trip. Thanks

    What type of food are you feeding I had a huge issue with hair algea once upon a time it was from flake food that was loaded with phosphate. Also I didn't catch how long are your lights on per day

    Redsea makes a good one I wouldn't trust any type of litmus paper testers period I know tropic marine makes calcium, and alkalinity hardness test ,phosphate Anything from Tropic Marin is top quality and works. RedSea also good company I would probably ask your lfs its great you have one...

    You really should invest in your own test kits you will need to check Calcium levels to get into a shcedule for adding calcium you really can't overdose but you can waste money

    No doubt your corals will consume calcium you will have to add calcium on a shcedule I use Tropic Marine Bio actiff salt and Reef Fusion its a 2 part system calcium and iodine is the first part the second part is carbonate alkilinity for skeletal growth in your coral

    Yes its normal they have no other way to expel waste they will do that every so often especially if you're feeding it well
