Its never been a problem for me. But I could see some concern but most of the larvae I have found were mosquito larvae but only in my low current tank for my betta
Just got home and checked it and im running full blast at about 4-5 bubbles a second with a constant "volcano" of micro bubbles coming from my diffuser looks like its working bettee than I hoped.
Here is a pic of it as of today basically day one of co2 injection will try to post a new pic...
Its already up and running but when I change my bottles out I will definately add a couple more check valves. That's something I didnt even think about.
Its effective to a point it really all depends on ho much co2 you want/need you can create as much as you want but it would become cumbersome having to lug 6 or eight 2 liter bottles around to get a bunch of co2 but I have all loe to moderate light plants so it will work fine for my tank
I got my diffuser for 11 bucks was the most expensive part of my set up I got enough yeast and sugar to last about 2 months for like 8 bucks other than that it was like 13 bucks for all the tubing and connecters I needed 2 bucks for the soda bottles which I drank anyway so overall liie $25 for 2...
Just like plants out of water plants underwater also convert co2 into oxygen. It stimulates growth which in turn helps eat up all the other bad stuff in the water
I.e. ammonia, nitrates, and nitrates. It also makes them healthier.
Its already starting to bubble away not super fast but it is releasing micro bubbles out of my diffuser pretty steady now and its only been about 3 hours. I did thr same thing with my hose but wanted the extra security with the silicone just to be safe.
I just hooked my 2 bottle up waiting for the bubbles to arrive hopefully by morning I had some extra aqarium silicone lying around so I used it to caulk the tubes into place so hopefully I wont have any leaks.
Ive read you should only do co2 for so many hours a day how do I go about shutting the co2 down in the tank for the off hours or do I just leave it running 24hours a day?
This is my plan
Im unsure of where to put the regulator either before the "bubble counter" or after I would assume. Also hoe much yeast/sugar is uses to make the mix and how much water should I use?
So im going to start diy co2 system tomorrow on my 38 gallon I figure I will use 2 2liter bottles with a 20oz bubble counter/cleaner. Should I attach both 2liters into one line going into the 20oz? On the tube going into the diffuser with the check valve should I put some sort of gas...
Definitely think im going with a pair of dwarf gourami. Been reading on them since you mentioned them and think they will be the best fit for this tank. How many more neons could I add with a pair of these and the 2 dwarf orange cray
Yeah mexican dwarf orange is what I meant I love those littlw guys they have such personality. How about apistos but looks like a couple gouramis might be my best bet are they pretty hardy?
I havent had much luck with rams. I love them but have had 3 sets of GBRs and all have passed after a few months. Are there any hardier ones out there. I think angels would get too big for the tank.
