hmmm... diatoms are the brown algae? how long do you think a few ottos would last in a tank of african cichlids? lol... i really want to get rid of this brown crap :-\

you have 1 ghost shrip, one angel and 2 ottos in a 55 gallon tank :-p... you are far from over stocking :-p lol.... can you ever find your one ghost shrimp? we have 50 of them in our tanks at petsmart and they are hard enough to find :-D

this is what i had before i ever got green algae...its brownish looking and coats my gravel/plants/ everything but fish... ive attached some pics of the algae growth stuff...and one of my tank.. hope someone knows what will help kill this crud... and if you know what will kill it, will it also...

i had a pleco for a while...he did nothing but suck on some of my decorations... never touched the glass really.. and i didnt want a 20" fish in my tank... so i brought him back and got the synodontis...hoping he would do more...but he doesnt.. anything i can physically do to reduce algae...

yea i asked today, 14 days they will take back fish and refund money, or accept dead fish. we dont usually ask anything about the cause of death, unless we remember specifically telling you "you know...that arowana shouldnt be in a 10 gallon tank" ;)

I work for petsmart and even i dont know :oops: ive never had anyone bring back a fish alive. but our policy in my store is that we do not accept fish for store credit like some small LFS's would. ill find out tomorrow for you if you would like.

Currently i have 30 zebra danios and 1 pleco. I have 1 watt per gallon i guess? (2 lights, 40 watts a piece). One is a standard light that came with the tank, and the other is an 18k light. I still dont know why the tank isnt done cycling. Im at class and cant remember my water specifications...

I like an aquarium that is really bright, almost like a planted or marine tank but of course this brings on alge problems, which i already have, and it hasnt even finished cycling yet :? any ideas of what i can do to keep it under control? i have brown alge on my rocks/decor and on the sides...

guppyman knows where its at :) i will never buy anything but an apple display again... i have the 17 inch and love it... im not a professional anything yet (still a student) so i have no use for a 23" or a 30" for that matter... lol ill end up just getting a website for posting images...

what kind of monitors are you guys using? i am absolutly in love with my apple flat screen display and the picture it produces. although im not a graphic artist or photographer, i do enjoy taking some pictures here and there. just another quick question, are most of your pictures over 100kb...
