i wonder how much live rock you'd need so that the rate of corraline growth equalled his consumption? in other words, so there would be only bare batches here and there but for the most part the tank was still purple and green
a very cool fish that i contemplated getting at one time but was...
i've had my chocolate chip for about 4 months and he's great. he hasn't touched any of my mushrooms. i give him a chunk of shrimp or mussel typically about every 4 days or so. he'll sit at the top of the tank and i'd say about 3/4 of him will be stretched out on the water's surface just...
hey quarryshark, thanks for your advice. as much as i'd like a tank full of fish, it is much more important to me that they have excellent living conditions. i'll go with just one trigger and probably the heni's over the tangs.
i look forward to picking out the hardware as well but that'll...
i'm looking over the compatibility list. i guess i'll have to rule out multiple triggers although i think one clown trigger and one niger might be ok. i'll get them pretty small.
so here's my revised list
porc. puffer
spiny box puffer
clown trigger
niger trigger
big angel
flame angel...
I plan on purchasing a 240g (96"x24"x24"tall) tank next year after I move dwellings and in my excitement, I’ve started to plan things out. I’m thinking this will be a FOWLR tank based on the fish I wish to have. After I have met with the company building the tank...
i've had the valentini for a month and so far things have been fine. my valentini is pretty passive. my clown is tiny, 1.5", the valentini is about 2-2.5"
i've got a 75g i can always transfer him to if need be
i've got a valentini and a clown together in a 20 g. w/ 40-50 lbs of LR and they get along just fine. the valentini has never nipped at him or gone after him, even when the little clown rips food right out of his mouth.
i have snails and hermits in there and he's left them alone. when i first...
i noticed on http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=256 that the spiny box puffer's' care level is listed as difficult, why? does anybody here have any experience? i'm thinking about getting one for a 75g.
i've got them and they do not eat cyano. they are fun little guys and they haven't bothered any of my snails or my starfish but if something dies in the tank, they are all over it.
ambient temp gets no higher than 85. would like tank to be around 76.
250g, 96" long, 260W of power compacts on each half
150g, 60" long, 260w pc total
if i will need a chiller on either setup, how many hp?
i've already started to plan out the hardware portion and i'll be seeking advice on that eventually.
i'll be going w/ an aragonite base (not ls). i'll probably start w/ 100-150lbs of lr and as the amount of that increases, so will my fish stock.
before i pick the tank up i'll make sure to do...
hmm, small or large, aggressive or not... well i want a boxfish so i guess that dictates that i'll have to have a docile tank since i wouldn't want him to get defensive.
i think i'd like a range of fish, maybe 1 or 2 larger ones, a couple medium ones and several smaller ones to give the tank...
i currently have 20g. and 45g. setups so naturally i've been looking for something bigger. i stumbled upon a 150g. acrylic tank for $300, with stand, canopy and built-in sump. needless to say i'm quite excited. so now the fun part, what fish do i get?
i would like to have inverts, maybe...
i just checked out a 120g. acrylic tank for sale that also includes a stand and canopy for $300. the stand has a built in sump w/ a trickle filter filled w/ bio balls. $300 seems like a good deal. it is scratched up but i don't mind buffing them out.
also, anybody have any experience w/...
i've used silica sand in the past with good results but i'm setting up a new 75g. and i'd like to use aragonite. in an effort to save some money i'm thinking about a bottom layer of silica sand and then a 1" layer of carib sea reef sand. any thoughts on this?
i just got a free 75g. tank but i need a stand and canopy. i'm not in the mood to diy at this time and other than going to my lfs are there any other suggestions?
i'm in minnesota if anybody has them for sale.
thank you
i added 5 turbos and 3 ceriths about 2 weeks ago to my 20g. the turbos went to town on my glass and there is virtually no visible algae left. so what do i feed this guys?
i got some marine cuisine and my blue damsel just loved it. i forgot to drain the juice and, uh, i didn't really thaw it b/c in my excitement, i didn't do my research. he gobbled it down anyways
thanks for all the advice
the marine cuisine by S.F. bay brand looks like good stuff.
beyond a blend like that, are there any particular ingredients that you'd recommend, for example krill or brine shrimp?
when i did the shrimp method on my tank the whole room stink lasted no more than 48 hours. my ammonia went up to 2 and then started to drop back down. i used one medium sized shrimp (2 inches long or so).
thanks for all the advice
this 45g tank has been up for nearly three months
