    Water Clarity

Cool thanks. Think I'll try that this week. I do have a smaller tank to put the fish in temporarily but not big enough to let the other tank cycle. I'll have to see what I can come up with.

Yes it is stocked, and yes there are a few bottom feeders however I dont think that they are stirring up the sand. Any sand that does get mixed up usually settles pretty quickly. I guess I'll just give it time and see whats happens, and just keeping doing regular water changes.

No. I did not rinse the sand. I realized my mistake a bit too late, but now I'm wondering what to do. Taking the sand back out I don't think would help, and have done a number of water changes which are not helping much. Not sure what to do now.

    Water Clarity

Water Clarity Problem I recently switched my substrate from gravel to sand, and since then, I've had cloudy water. I've tried ~20% water changes and Accu Clear to clear the water up, and nothing is really helping. Any ideas on why the water is so cloudy, and what I can do to clear it up? Thanks!

    Water Conditioner Question...

When doing water changes or adding water I use a ammonia detoxifier that detoxifies Chloramines, Chlorine, Ammonia, Nitrate, and Nitrite. On the instructions it says to add 1 teaspoon for each 10 gallons. I have a 20 gallon tank. My question is if I do a 25% water change and need to add 5...

Sick Molly? Maybe due to a change in substrate

When I change that water I added the dechiorinates and I also add stress coat, and proper pH 7.0. And I will change the water shortly:thanks:

    Sand vs. Gravel

I apologize about the plant option. I am trying to figure out how to edit the poll. :thumb: No, I did not rinse the sand. I didn't even think about that. That's probably my problem.

Sick Molly? Maybe due to a change in substrate

Thanks for your help. I do have those test strips and now your are the second person I've heard from about how inaccurate they are. My next stop at the store will be buying a better test kit. The pH test tho is in a test tube with a test solution, so I believe that to be correct. And as far as...

    Sand vs. Gravel

I have a 20g freshwater tank and yesterday I changed out the blue gravel I had and added white sand. I think it looks 10 times better but it seems that the fish stir up the sand and make the water cloudy. Overall I think it was a good decision to go with the sand. What are your thoughts? Sand or...
