My Bristlenose Pleco Kills my Gourami

I haven't thought of that possibility. So far, I haven't been able to catch him being still and visible, but if I did, he has the stripey camouflage pattern. I figured since his favorite food is string beans that I would put a little bigger piece in there for him and split it lengthwise so I...

My Bristlenose Pleco Kills my Gourami

By the way, another thing I have noticed is that his dots are more prominent when he is stressed. When is he just chillin' his stripes are more prominent. It isn't really the lighting because if I can catch him in chill made tonight he will most likely be displaying his stripes more than dots.

My Bristlenose Pleco Kills my Gourami

Well sorry it took so long, but occasionally he will leave like a little chunk of veggie. Sometimes a little bit of algae wafer would be leftover in there. I am sure when the DG was in there he would get one of those freeze dried bloodworms here and there if he felt inclined to eat it. I found...

My Bristlenose Pleco Kills my Gourami

I feed him an algae wafer (little algae wafer from walmart in the pouch) every-night with a few flakes right before I tun the lights off. About two to three days out of a week I replace the algae wafer and flake with a small piece of blanched veggie, like string bean, squash, etc.

My Bristlenose Pleco Kills my Gourami

I put him/her in a little tupperware container long enough to get a good look at him/her with the camera. I personally think he/she is gorgeous, which is why I don't mind him/her being the only fish in the tank... I don't know if y'all can see the tiny little bristles on his/her face but here...

My Bristlenose Pleco Kills my Gourami

Well that was just what he looked like all of the time. He isn't old enough to develop bristles yet, (but I am starting to see little tiny bristles forming on his face) The only thing that changed about him, is that he now has these tiny lighter dots, and a tip of white on his dorsal. That and...

My Bristlenose Pleco Kills my Gourami

I do actually, I need to get a recent one of him, because the only picture I have that is visible enough to see him is when I first got him. His markings have actually changed a little since then.

My Bristlenose Pleco Kills my Gourami

These are those aponogeton bulbs that you can buy a pack of at walmart, and hope that they grow. Sorry, I mis-named them. Either way, they were growing well, then they got eaten. I personally never saw the pleco eat the leaves, only the bulbs. I don't understand how he is hungry, I feed him...

My Bristlenose Pleco Kills my Gourami

@JetaJocky, yeah, I am sure, I have watched him do everything. There is a possibility that the DG accidentally decided to sleep near or in his cave, in that case, I can imagine that it may have gotten stuck. Still, last night, both fish were perfectly healthy, I noticed the pleco trying to suck...

My Bristlenose Pleco Kills my Gourami

Just because he is so mean I re-named him Gaskins, after a famous serial killer from around here. I did do some re-arranging, and at the moment, he is angrily moving the gravel to make another cave under the driftwood. I also took his collection of amazon sword bulbs that he was chewing on. I...

My Bristlenose Pleco Kills my Gourami

I never knew that a 10 gallon would be too small for him. Everyone I have ever spoke to about a bristle-nose said that as long as I don't have many other fish in there, it shouldn't be too small. I could understand the space being too small for a regular pleco, lol... We had one that lived...

My Bristlenose Pleco Kills my Gourami

When I decided to start my little 10 gallon aquarium back up a few months ago, the first fish I went and bought was Waldo, a tiny bristlenose pleco. I figured that he would be at home in the tank, with the driftwook, and plants. Well, the first few days of him being home, he just hid... Later...

New to the site with one sinister bristlenose pleco

Hey, my name is Jenny. I am new here, but I have always loved freshwater aquariums. I've had bettas, guppies, danios, gouramis, koi, goldfish, and just about anything else that is freshwater and common in petstores. At the moment I just have one bristlenose pleco, (he is a tiny little...
