    Do my cories have velvet?

They're doing absolutely fine, thanks for asking! I've come to learn that healthy peppered corys do have a metallic green dusting. I stopped treating, and months later they are healthy and getting huge! They all look happy.

    My Fish Needs Your Help!

Semi aquatic. They were lucky bamboo stalks that were tall enough to not drown in my tank. I've always liked how they look, but the fish stores around me only had really tiny stalks... I feel liked i really noobed out on this one...

    My Fish Needs Your Help!

Thanks for the article mumma! The "bugs" looked most similar to either water fleas or seed shrimp. You're probably right about me and jumping the gun, but I just got so worried cause I bought the plants from a local market and I had no idea what horrible, terrible things I could have introduced...

    My Fish Needs Your Help!

Thanks for the article mumma! The "bugs" looked most similar to either water fleas or seed shrimp but with a tinge of green to them. You're probably right about me jumping the gun, but I just got so worried because I bought the plants from a local market and I didnt know what i could have...

    My Fish Needs Your Help!

And on that note, I'm not sure whether these critters/worms are parasitic or not. I think the betta may have eaten some of the worms. However I just looked at the container the betta is in and there doesn't seem to be any worms/insect things moving around (or any of them that are alive at any rate)

    My Fish Needs Your Help!

How do I move a fish from a cup of "thing" infested water into a tank without infesting the new tank? I had a betta in a 5.5g. Introduced some new plants, which led to bugs in substrate, things crawling on the waters surface, and worms!!!!!!! I got the cup the betta came in and scooped him out...

    Breaking Down a Tank

And I assume I can just run the filter with this vinegar solution for a bit and soak all my nets and tubing etc. to make sure all the little critters are dead? If so, how long would you soak em for?

    Breaking Down a Tank

My 5.5 planted experiment tank is going downhill, and seeing as there is only one fish in it I was considering breaking it down. now, [mod edit] added some plants there are little bugs and some worms crawling around in it! Now I'm gonna take it down, relocate the fish, and sterilize everything...

    Centerpiece Fish for 15g?

Wow! Loads of good suggestions, thanks! Unfortunately I can't really do a school because one fish (at around a dwarf gourami bio load) should make me stocked. Gold rams are an interesting suggestion though. TBH, I don't know anything really about cichlids. And think it may be a bit outta my...

    Centerpiece Fish for 15g?

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Thanks for the confirmation. Any ideas on some kind of freshwater yellow fish then that'd be good in a community?

    Centerpiece Fish for 15g?

A worker at a store I've built a rapport with suggested a gold gourami. Normally I would have dismissed it thinking that they are too big, but the guy has always given me great info before. Any opinions on a gold gourami? Any other suggestions?

    Taking Fish Tanks to College

I started up this hobby after I left the dorms and am now currently in an apartment, so idk about dorm fish though I wouldn't recommend it for simple lack of space and likely move at the end of the year. But on to your questions! 15g freshwater (I wouldn't go any larger than this as I know...

    What killed my fish?

My sick dwarf emerald gourami died today :( while sad, i really want to know what got him. these past few days he was bloated, swimming weirdly (kind of getting pushed around by the current), not eating, and had these weird white bumps/things on his back near his dorsal fin (i have treated...

    A Goldfish for Easter

Similar thing happened to me, except after a few months of my male king betta in that square case thing, I thought "wish he had a filter," then "more space," then "a heater"...... 7 months later I have 2 tanks, a new hobby for my gf to tolerate, and this site. I'd say it all ended up for the...

Sick Gourami! Cory tankmate question when medicating.

Cool, thanks! Though I think I'm going to switch ti primafix/melafix since I've read that they're alright with corys and so I don't have to use lifeguard and kill my BB.

    Closty is sick!

I'm sorry to hear about your tank going crazy like that! Is there anything you've done recently that was different, like added anything new or tried a new product? If you're still unsure about what exactly is going wrong, id start with doing some water changes to get the ammonia down and to...

Sick Gourami! Cory tankmate question when medicating.

Please bear with me, the background may be a bit long. In my 15g my dwarf emerald gourami, named Simba, is sick with white bumps on his sides between his pectoral fins and dorsal fin. I say bumps because i have successfully treated some run-ins with ich before and it really doesnt look like...

Dead fish came back to life?

Yup! happened to me and my betta. He'd been really sick for a day with clamped fins and fungus (he went from completely healthy and brilliantly colored to really sick in a few days, it was crazy and i still dont know what happened!) I thought he was dead since was on the floor on his side...
