    New plan to remove nitrates.

Aquaponics is a great nitrate removal tool. Although you have to keep in mind that if you are growing edibles in your media tray... When you harvest the plants... You are taking away a nitrate eating component. You have to keep the system balanced by either replacing the plant that was harvested...

Have quite a few male yellow perch for sale. Most are about 6"+ and currently kept in a large school outdoors. I am located in the Dunnellon/Crystal River Florida area. They are pellet trained. I am not shipping these guys. They make a great addition to the aquarium as a predator fish.

Looking to start a water garden.

A lot of things can be used on a concrete slab for a pond... Kiddie pools, pond shells, jacuzzi tubs, vintage tubs, watering troughs... Anything that holds water and is not toxic to fish. As a DIY project... Make it cost less, look nice and work well. The box can be made almost any size and is...

Looking to start a water garden.

Water usage usually boils downs to nitrates (water changes in a closed system) and evaporation or absorption. You are going to want a complete system... Meaning a balanced one. Fish, plants, snails. The DIY box ponds we built can be finished off with wood or stone veneer on the outside to give...

Here is a pic of three different above ground pond types that I have set up grow tilapia right now. Maybe this will give you some ideas. Let me know if you have any questions.

Looking to start a water garden.

Looks very nice. I have a similar one and had to reinforce the corners as the weight of the water started to push it apart. It is about 6'x7'. I would skip the gold fish. Feeder gold fish carry disease... Especially walmart ones. Run your pump through a bucket/tub with a smaller water volume...

Identify red worm... Came from mouth brooding cichlid. HELP!

Found a few of these little red worms on the bottom of my nursery tank. I'm afraid they are trying to eat a few of the eggs that have been dropped by the mouth brooding female (eggs are still live and developing). What are they? Are they harmful?

Small white dandelion fluff like stuff everywhere!

So... I figured out part of the problem. The death was caused by this guy getting beat up really bad by a VERY aggressive female. After separating her with another semi aggressive female I studied her behavior to see if there was any deterrents I could use to help correct this behavior. She...

Small white dandelion fluff like stuff everywhere!

Are there always ulcers with scale loss and columnaris? when he came in his fins were nice. The next day he wasn't eating and his pectoral fins were ragged. The day after that he died.

Small white dandelion fluff like stuff everywhere!

I'm not seeing any white patches on the fish. When the one died he had some extra mucous over where the scales had fallen off. I didn't find him dead until I got home from work so he spent a few hours in the tank lifeless I'm sure... Can just the stress of moving older and larger fish cause any...

Small white dandelion fluff like stuff everywhere!

When I noticed the first one very lethargic... I moved him to a small qt. less than 12 hours later he was dead and these translucent white things were already growing on the glass in the qt. I have read where other people have had this, but they are all unfinished topics with little information...

Small white dandelion fluff like stuff everywhere!

To describe the "fluff"... Imagine hydra with a little stouter base, translucent white and much shorter tentacles. Almost like a 3/32" translucent white piece of soft broccoli waving in the current affixed to surfaces....

Small white dandelion fluff like stuff everywhere!

I can't get a pic of it... Wish I could. It is a translucent white color that bloomed overnight. It took over every inch of the aquarium and nearly clogged my canister filter... Reduced the water flow. The more effected fish seem to be very lethargic, not eating, fins fraying and scales just...

Small white dandelion fluff like stuff everywhere!

Brought home some new fish and the next day the entire aquarium was covered with small dandelion fluff like things. One of the fish died and others are looking rough. Fins are torn/tattered and the fish that died had scales lifting away and falling off. I am totally lost at this point. Anyone...

Help... Losing scales and growth on glass

Just brought home a breeder colony of blue tilapia yesterday. They ate their dinner and apart from some tattered fins and obvious signs of stress... They looked pretty good. Today the male looked like he had some fungus growing on him and lost some scales and was lethargic. The aquarium glass...

    Small paito pond

No harm in growing one or two in the mean time if you have the time and water space. You could have them trained to hand feed perfectly before introducing them to a large pond. Study up on filtration. I moved the two koi from my aquarium to my friends pond... Two cleanings later and my...

    Flashing and torn fins

Have four tilapia in a 55g tank. They are about 3 months old and 3-4" long. I have been treating them for ich as one of them had two spots on a fin which seems to have cleared up with salt and heat. I just did a water change an have not re dosed salt. All of the fish are flashing and one of them...

Little white "bugs" on aquarium glass

Nematodes or planaria. Can't tell which one they are... Just want to make sure the fish are going to be ok with them in there....

Little white "bugs" on aquarium glass

What are the little white bugs on the aquarium glass? I can see them slowly moving on the glass and floating in the water. Looks like the fish are eating them. Are they dangerous? Should I be concerned?

    Small paito pond

Here are some pics of the two koi in my 55g tank that are under a year old. They are 10" and 12". They require huge water changes every day to control nitrate levels. They are only in this tank to quarantine as they are re-homing to a friends pond. I would stay with only two small koi until...
