    I notice the directions on filter media (ceramic and plastic) state to replace about a third every six months. Any comments on this? Seems like a waste of good bacteria.

    Is it ok to slow the flow rate on my marineland C-530

    My marineland C-530 is too strong for my 75 planted freshwater. Is it ok to slow the flow rate? I can slow the rate at the hose cut off valve; but, I am not sure if this will be damaging to the impeller drive. Any advice?
