Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

I'm thinking it was because the acrylic fit too snug. I remember reading that acrylic can swell a bit from water. Might have been just enough to put too much pressure on the glass. Rushed clean up because I had to get to work. Everything seems fine, except my hammer looked pretty bad. I have no...

Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

Here, in this pic you can kind of tell how the outflow is sort of distracting. It's like bam, right there in the middle of view. If it was closer to the waterline, I think it would look better. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

I would have put it right below the water line, just so it's a little more out of view. Maybe just an inch or so higher... I'm just OCD like that. After I finish a project I pick it apart and focus on everything I could have done differently rather than just admiring my work and being happy...

Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

Thank you! Take your time with the project! If I had the chance to do anything differently, I'd include a second baffle on each side for a "bubble trap" as I'm having a small issue with micro bubbles. Also, I would have more carefully planned where I drilled the outflow, I kind of wish it was a...

Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

Well, we've been in the process of selling our house, so I just got the tank set up at my in laws where we'll be staying for a few months until we find a new home. New sand and a few new additions. Here's a quick vid of where the tanks sits now. Kitchen tank! :D http://youtu.be/0DjfOcAtpBo...

Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

Mine is a combination of both because of the original measurements and way the tank was built originally. Most standard tanks with the black rims are built with the side panels sitting on top of the bottom. Most rimless tanks like ADA or Mr Aqua, the side panels are fitted up against the bottom...

Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

Thank you! I'm really enjoying the look of this tank and the functionality! No more surface scum because I finally have overflows, no pesky powerheads to look at or keep clean, I finally have a place to run my auto top off, water level always stays constant in the display area, etc... I feel...

Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

Yeah, and I don't plan on packing this tank full of coral, just gonna let a few select pieces grow out. I want to keep this tank as low maintenance as possible. I've got a mr aqua 48g rimless that I need to decide what I'm gonna do with... If that becomes my main display, I'll worry about better...

Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

Just did a preliminary set of tests since I did a large couple of water changes over the last few days. Everything is in the ideal ranges(using api :( I know...) except magnesium, I don't have a test for that. I'll do another set of tests next week to see what changes. Ph 8.0 KH 11-12 Cal 420...

Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

Yeah, I've never used a skimmer before, so this will be learning experience... Hopefully it doesn't take months to dial in! Pretty sure it might even be a little overkill for this size tank... but hey, maybe I'll be able to squeeze another small fish in and do smaller less frequent water...

Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

Checked on the skimmer this morning before I left for work. It seems to be getting better. I'm seeing a lot less micro bubbles and I was able to open the air control all the way without the skimmer going crazy. Did a quick top off and I was on my way! Hopefully I can get the ATO setup later...

Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

At the moment I'm running carbon in one chamber and CPE in the other. After the carbon is exhausted I'll switch over to CPE in both. I just wanted to make sure I pull out any crap that was introduced during setup that might cause the skimmer to act up. I just finished doing a large water...

Thank you. With a sharp razor blade. It's just siliconed in place. I actually broke the entire tank down during the build. No pictures of it apart, but yeah, I tried to replicate the innovative marine fusion tanks. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Thanks for confirming that for me! I'll do a 50% water change later today. Opinions on chemi-pure elite? Should I run extra carbon along with it? Just carbon? Just CPE? Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Bill's DIY AIO 10 Gallon - Something out of nothing

Thanks all! Well, my tunze 9001 skimmer is producing a TON of micro bubbles... Doing some reading and to a point it's normal during break in, but there are some other factors that I've read about that can cause it... Such as dechlorinater(which I used just incase there was any tap water present...

Thanks you guys! I let it run for about 2 hours. This is the third time I've tested it. Spent the last few hours getting everything moved over. Just waiting on the water to clear up now... Pics coming soon... Maybe tomorrow though... Haha Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Thanks everyone! While I do have confidence in my work, I haven't done a long term water test yet, just a few hours testing out the pump and overflows, and checking for leaks... I'm getting really tempted to just move the rock in later today and hope for the best... Aye... Sent from my iPhone...
