    Ich in my planted tank

It is between 84-86. My thermometer isn't sensitive enough to tell (I'm using one with a needle that goes up in increments of 2 degrees... The tetras are looking a lot worse today but they are still eating. Fingers crossed. -Luna Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Ich in my planted tank

When reading into a bunch of different remedies, I read that the salt will kill the free swimming parasites but that, as you said, heat is a big factor. So my temp is above 80 and I really hope that helps everything along. I am just so sad. I love all my fish and plants and everything has...

    Ich in my planted tank

My tank is over 5 years old and nothing else is new. I do weekly water changes and have never had a problem. Ich oocysts encapsulate themselves in the substrate, on plants and on drift wood in one of the life stages of the Protozoa. It is possible for them to have been introduced to my...

    Ich in my planted tank

Hello! I recently bought plants off of Kijiji (my first of possible several mistakes) as after 3-4 days in the tank, my green neon tetras began flashing. I immediately turned up my water temperature and inspected the fish. I saw the classic signs- a few (1-2 Ich cysts on a couple of the...

    Murky Water

I agree, however I have no idea what the actual parameters are. I'll have to contact her later on, as I am stuck on campus for finals. I suggested doing a water change for now and I think she is going to go to our LFS to get her water tested more accurately. My API master kit is expired, else...

    Murky Water

Normal cloudy colour, like what I would expect to see from ammonia. It isn't the substrate so far as I can tell- she put in normal aquarium gravel.

    Murky Water

Hello, My friend called me for some advice and I don't know how to answer. She just started a 20 gallon tank and has a few bleeding heart tetras in it. (Doing a Fish-in cycle) She set it up maybe 1-2 weeks ago and is doing all the normal things to cycle a tank. Her dip-stick readings are...

    Post your neon pics here!

Green neons looks the same as regular ones (their stripe is blue) the difference is that the don't have any red on there bellies. They're expensive here. Usually 2 for 1.99 is the best deal you'll find, but I live in Ottawa Ontario.

If you had a 10000 Gallon Tank

I would love to have a sea turtle. With a perfectly replicated coral reef like the ones she would normally visit if she weren't in my tank. I got to meet a sea turtle on Thursday and she was beautiful and really funny.

    New 20 Gallon Tank

The fish store is amazing! Everything is extremely healthy, all tanks are planted, nothing is overstocked. They are knowledgeable, have fair prices and the stock is healthy.

    Cycling Question

That's amazing! So glad I thought of it. Seems so simple and straightforward.

    Cycling Question

Icky- I can only imagine. A friend told me a story (she worked at an unnameable lfs) in which, the company used to receive piraña in old gas tanks from (Indonesia?) and they would not have been individually bagged or separated in any manner, so they would open up these old nasty gas drums...

    New 20 Gallon Tank

Thank you both for your siggestions! Harlequins are lovely, I have some in my 36 that I could transfer over, though they are full grown, hyper little monsters lol. They want to play with everyone! I like the aquascaping ideas. I haven't seen water sprite at my lfs but ill definitely keep an...

    Cycling Question

Is transferring some unseen harmful bacteria or illness? I did think about that. I have been fortunate enough to be issue free (knock on wood) with my 36 gallon, since its inception. My lfs has such good quality stock that I have been very fortunate!

    Glass catfish

Those darn opalines. I've seen them in the store and they are very pretty. I would love to have one in my tank, But honestly I am having a hard enough time keeping my honey gourami from being a bully. We've actually started calling him Richard (as you can think what the nickname for Richard...

    Cycling Question

Oooh good news :) I though that was the case, but I've been know to have a few notions that were incorrect, though seemingly logical lol.

    New 20 Gallon Tank

Thank you, both! I don't know what I want to do. I did put some bacopa caroliniana (I think that's how it is spelled) in the corner, as well as some normal Val. But there is a gorgeous fish tank at my lfs that is pretty much bare, I am going to go there today. I'll take a picture and upload...

    Glass catfish

I don't know the answer to that, but I was hoping my question could be answered here as well, Can I put a glass cat in with neon tetras?

    Cycling Question

I have a fully mature 36 gallon bowfront, it has been running for at least 2 years. I am about to change the filter media, and was wondering, I just started a small 20 gallon aquarium (there are 5 green neon tetras in it) If I cut a piece of my 36 gallon's filter media (I'm thinking about 1"...

    Cycling

Yes! Always with the water changes lol. You will have to keep doing them regularly until your water parameters level out, then usually once a week is fine as long as you keep an eye on your ammonia and nitrates.

    New 20 Gallon Tank

Hey there! I am wondering if anyone has fish ideas and aquascaping ideas for a new tank I am starting. It is a standard 20 gallon, I want it planted, and it is currently being cycled. I have 5 tiny green neon tetras in it. I will add pictures of what I have so far, I'm willing to make...

Though starter bacteria does help, I would suggest that you continue with the same water changes that you would if you hadn't added it... Are there any fish in your tank at the moment?

Showpiece for a 20 Gallon FW

Thank you all so much for your time. The tank is well established and growing lushly with swords, anubias and tiger lillies. A Bolivian ram sounds like a very good choice.
