    LED lighting question

Yeah you pretty much triple your out put. The PAR says 220 is not low depend on where they record that reading. If it is right under the light about 3-10" and yes, it is, but if it is at 24" deep, 220 PAR means enough for SPS. And yes, switching to Kessiel for sure going to make a differences...

    LED lighting question

your concern isn't at the watts the LED puts out, it would be more of the PAR it gives. From the site, it doesn't really tell me much as it lack of information. few things missing from the site that is important which you might be able to tell us. Do you know the PAR reading by any chance? How...

    Cheap LED solution???

Can you post a link to any official link about red spectrum help coral color?I know they will help coral growth in a minimum way. Unless you can pull out an article saying the red improves the actual coloration of coral I can't say yes or no on that. AQ Spring Co Ltd Ppl choose MH is mainly...

    Lighting question

You might want to just sell the marine land and pick up a full T5 set or a different LED set. The reason is that any T5 or T8 would pretty much blend your LED shimmer effect, and the LED itself doesn't really make a huge differences in performance. many people thought actinic doesn't help...

    Cheap LED solution???

I agree on the red and green but violet or UV does do s bit to SPS. Although you might not find the true 395nm UV LED diodes yourself, violet led does give a little bit more on the UV side of the spectrum which bring out the color pigment of SPS

Lighting your reef... Best bang for your buck.

Well you pay what you gets. You will gamble on it but because really just cost around 150 to 200 range, so it wouldn't be much of a lost even if you only use it for 6 month.

    90g RR build

just fyi, softies and sps might not like each other that much. I would suggest crank up ur carbon. It also helps just in case your sea hare not making it.

Would this light work for corals

I would say no, first 10000K is too warm for corals, need at least 12000K.

    Lighting upgrade help!

Well, let's say got a tank crush due to mh heat related reason. I lost 20k worth of live stock in less than 12 hours. It was partially my fault for not getting chiller. But I had fan on my tank and dumping buckets of ice cUbe in and still not able to keep the temp down

    Lighting upgrade help!

personally I won't use MH on BC29 . That is just me. I just don't like the extra heat added to the small tank. Well I have personal nightmare about MH in general so lol I am a bit bias for this.

Lighting your reef... Best bang for your buck.

Yes and no, at the end of the day, it is depend on what you keeping, the higher you place your light, u are sacrificed output for coverage. You will need to find the balance for it. Also I can't imagine a 6" tank doesn't have a bracer in the middle

    aqueon modular led

Lumen doesn't mean a lot to reef tank in this case. As blue LEDs provide much less lumens but can produce as much PAR as white LED. Your Reef tank can survive with nothing but blue LED but it will look very dim. Running a 120W fixture every 24" is really base on the availablility of the...

    aqueon modular led

There is no watt/gallon for LED, The few basic factors would be... 1)actual dimension of the tank vs the optic on the LED. This would tells you how high you need to place your light to cover the tank. 2) After you find out how high it will need to be placed, then check the PAR value of the...

    aqueon modular led

i think u r talking about the one that made with many <1W LEDs, if that is the one, it would ok, but I don't like it as anthing <1W is really less efficient. For example, if they are .5W each, the true watt of each LED would be max out at about 0.3w because they can't handle the higher current...

    Led lighting

don't get me wrong, i am using full sepctrum myself as well ZP3600 and the stronger white LED my fixture provide blend everything together. However, I don't see the full spectrum being anything but personal preference. Some people like you like the looks of it, some one like Mr_X doesn't...

    Led lighting

the reason why it is odd and most people switch red+green to just blend warm white, because the LED beam would not blend within the short distance (from fixture to the tank bottom. You almost feels like looking thru the old style blue and red 3D glasses sometime because the multi color fixture...

in most cases no, as their driver is not make to be able to interact with any controller out there.

    Led lighting

That is not true when you said dimming is not needed. The feature is not a gimmick like cloudy or storm or disco effect. It simply the only way to acclimate corals from T5/MH. If you don't get dimmer, then you will need to be creative like someone here that add a stack of acrylic sheets on top...
