    tank transport

I moved my 90 a few months back, followed the same steps as above. I just wanted to add that I got the styrofoam boxes free from my lfs, I just hit them up on their receiving day and they gave me all I needed. May save you from having to buy buckets, totes etc especially if you only plan to use...

    Flame Angel ?

I've had my flame for about 8 months, it eats mysis shrimp and I feed algae strips about 3 times a week. Never had an issue with it. Mine swims all over the tank (90 gal) and will chase from time to time but is mostly docile and content. Hope this helps.

    Tank Issues - Need Help

I've read that emerald crabs and foxface's will eat bubble algae. Seems hit and miss though. Some say to let the bubbles get bigger then try to carefully remove them from the rock outside of the tank because if one pops it releases spores.

    Strange black growth on rocks?

How long has that bubbling rock been in the tank? With porous rock you should turn it over a bit when you first add it to the tank to get all the air out. If it's fairly new that could just be trapped air from adding it. Just turn it over to let it escape.

Moving my 100 gallon stockless tank

If it is empty just wrap it in a moving pad/blanket.i moved my 90 a few months ago, wrapped it and transported by itself in my van. Not too bad just be careful. If you have any livestock to move your lfs is usually a good resource for styrofoam fish boxes. Mine hooked me up with 6 which was...

    More filtration..maybe

Hi all, I recently received some extra stuff a friend had laying around that he doesn't use. One item is (I think) an emperor hob filter. It has the spray bars one of the caps on the side was broken so I was thinking about using some rock putty to seal it. It has the big grey parts that hold the...

    Whats on my coral??

Hi all, I've been watching my GSP for a while now and when it closes up at night it looks like there's something attached to the base. Anyone have a clue what this is and or how to remove it? I apologize for the crappy pic... Best I could do before the lights came on this morning with my iPhone.

    Anyone recognize this???

Hi all, this poked out of the sand in my reef over the weekend. Anyone have a clue what it is?

Update on new fowlr tank need hlep

Did you use live rock or base rock? Looks like the only one with some color is the one completing your arch, if you used mostly base rock it takes a while for it to become live rock and start becoming an effective filter. How long has it been cycling and what did you use to kick off the cycle?

Update on new fowlr tank need hlep

It's a diatom algae bloom, normal for a new tank. Should clear up eventually on its own.

    Sand sifter issues

Hi all, I recently (at the advice of my lfs) added a dragon goby to my 46 bowfront reef. The idea being he would help turn over the sand and keep it looking clean. What he is actually doing is digging large holes in the sand bed around my rock scape. I'll be upgrading in the next month to a 90...

    Scared Clownfish

I got my first set about a month ago, took them about 2 days to get comfortable. My hands are in the tank all the time, they will literally come up and swim through my fingers. Unless you just happened to get a really shy one I don't think it has to do with putting your hands in the tank...

    Got some corals

Hi all, I finally got around to getting my first coral. My lfs said this was pretty much impossible to kill so I got a gsp. Took about a week moving around the tank before I found a spot it liked, I thought I would share a pic...

    Considering starting a SW tank!

Check out the nano reef threads, there's some really good build threads there that will probably cover most of your questions :)

    Test kit to buy?

I picked up the API saltwater master test kit for 30 bucks at my lfs.

    Stocking time

Hmm.. I'm not a fan of the Pygmy or possum but I do like the 6line. I read it can be aggressive though and I'm going for peaceful in this tank.. I have a 90 gallon with 19 African cichlids so I don't need any other aggressive fish..lol. The leopard wrasse looks nice, the info card at live...

    Stocking time

I have a 46 gallon bowfront, I set it up about 3 months ago with 60 lbs of live sand, 40 lbs of live rock and had a hob filter while it cycled. I just added a fluval 406, the 4 bulb coral life t5 high output lighting, and the bakpak hob protein skimmer with 2 packs of bio balls in it. Water...
