How come when I add a certain amount of fish to a 37 gallon, it says its stocked 161%, but if you add just 3 gallons, to a 40 gallon, the stocking percentage is 90%. How does 3 gallons make that big of a difference?

How long can fry be left in a breeder net? I need to get a separate tank for them and cycle it and everything! I could use filter media and all that to speed it up. Would a 5g be too small for fry?

I've read that when you do a large water change it can get rid of the beneficial bacteria. I thought the bacteria lived in the filter and stuff, not the water. I just did about a 60% water change because I was siphoning fry, but there are more fry that I need to get and I just wanted to know if...

I know this probably sounds stupid but i can NEVER start my siphon.. i've looked up videos and its hard to fill the tube then unfill it because i have a little plastic line thing that separates my tank in half at the top.

Okay so I have had a 37 gallon for about 7 weeks now with seeded media. I havent tested in a while so i tested today and got: nitrite: 0 or about .1 maybe nitrate: about 10/20 ammonia: 0 pH: above 7.6.. high range pH: 8.4-8.8 is this okay?!
