Not sure what kind of goby you have - but many of the sand sifters eat a mixed diet - mysis shrimp/spectrum pellets/algae - formula 1/2 - hopefully he turns up for you soon. :)

There is a recommendation on wetwebmedia for using a kalkwasser "slurry" as one form of dosing kalkwasser, which I happen to like also. I found it very helpful for the Ca and Alk. Recently I changed salt from IO to Coralife and now my Ca and Alk are much higher without the addition of kalk.

I think it is better to have 2 powerheads, unless you also have a sump with a return that is creating flow also.

My understanding is that Scarlet crabs do grow quite a bit larger, but for me have been the longest survivors. Mexican red crabs stay small. Most of the common blue crabs stay small, although I have an Electric Blue that is large.

Have you tried different sources of snails also - for the new ones you purchase? I recently beefed up my cleaning crew when I enlarged my tank, and I found dramatic differences in the liveliness of stock depending upon source.
