    Sea hare in nano tank?

Could you elaborate on why it's difficult to raise a sea hare? I have large patches of Caulerpa in my tank which it can graze on, rock crevices to hide from the light, and a good amount of other algae on the live sand/rock/glass for it to feed on as well. Do you have any tips?

    Sea hare in nano tank?

I just got two sea hares in my 6 gallon and they are adorable! I believe they are algae eaters, although if anyone else has more information, I'd appreciate it as well.

Artemia and Flow in fluval edge

Hi all. I want to stop using the built-in pump and waterfall filtration system for my tank and buy a powerhead instead. Maybe this one? Another problem I've been having is I feed my fish live artemia, but I think they are getting sucked in an pulverized in the pump. I've just been turning the...

My first aquarium is a 6g nano, looking for fish ideas.

I have something that looks like either a corynactis or pseudocorynactis. From this thread. If it stays really small, we can assume it's corynactis, right? That's the harmless one. Also, I feel bad getting rid of the majano, since it's not currently hurting anything or multiplying. Same goes for...

My first aquarium is a 6g nano, looking for fish ideas.

Thanks for checking up on me! The tank is going well. I probably won't add fish until after I move into the dorms, to avoid traumatizing them too much. But I did find an asterina star, a couple of bristleworms, a limpet, a majano, a sponge, a new snail, and some other anemone. After I move...

How well do harlequin shrimp do with peppermints? How many shrimp should I have?

    Fluval filter cleaning

Quick question: when I clean out the filter sponge on the back of my fluval, should I also throw out the water in the filter or dump it back into the tank? There tends to be detritus in it and sometimes live things like copepods or tiny shrimp-like things. I don't want to lose good critters if I...

    An anemone and a sponge?

If you can, tell me how I should encourage them to grow. Thanks!

    Polyps in a new tank

Hmm, I can't decide if it's corynactis or pseudocorynactis. I'd like to keep the former but the latter is dangerous. Perhaps I'll just wait for it to multiply or get huge and then we'll know. Also, for anyone else watching, this thread was very helpful.

    Polyps in a new tank

Wow, a pest anemone! It is very small right now. Can someone confirm and then tell me how to get rid of it? It looks a little different than the large ones over at wetlabmedia, though.

    Polyps in a new tank

Help much appreciated. I see two: one in the upper right and one in the center. Very small.

Compatible animals/plants for Red Eared Slider turtles?

Hello, I'm not sure this is the right forum, but I have an aquarium-related question. I have two baby red eared sliders (1.5 inches) in a 29 gallon tank. What sorts of animals or plants can I put in there with them? I don't want the animals to become live prey, but can deal with plants getting...

What kind of filefish is small enough? I thought blennies grow to around 4-5 inches. That would be too big for me, right?

Ok, so it looks like my options consist only of gobies? In that case, here are the gobies that appeal to me: panda neon black barred convict fire gold neon eviota pygmy catalina Are any of these not recommended (because the have too big a bioload, are hard to take care of, or don't play well...

Ah, thanks for the insight. Does that mean "don't get them" or "they're fine as long as no other fish/specific fish"?

Thanks! Haha, the way you say it reminds me of AA = alcoholics anonymous. I guess once an aquarist, always an aquarist.

My first aquarium is a 6g nano, looking for fish ideas.

I know I know, nanos are difficult to start off with. But I'm a college student with not much room to work with myself (you could say I live in a nano dorm...) and I've been lurking on forums about 5/hr a day for the past month reading about nanos and such so I'm prepared to vigorously look...

    College student new to aquariums

Yes, I have read that smaller aquariums are more difficult to keep, but I am up to that challenge. I actually love checking water parameters and will probably be paying close attention to the tank whenever I have free time during the school year. Also, there's no way I can keep a larger aquarium...

    College student new to aquariums

Hello all, I have recently discovered my first hobby - aquariums! A couple of weeks ago I decided to set up my first aquarium: a saltwater nano in a Fluval Edge 6 gal. Right now it's just got live rock, sand, and a CUC but it's still very interesting to watch. In the beginning I was confused...
