    tankmates for oscar ??

I'm a new oscar owner too, and I've heard pretty much the same thing. After seeing how nasty these things are, even at 3", I'm not really suprised to here it either. I was planning for mine to be in my 75 gallon living room tank with a green terror, but decided to move him into my 120 gallon...

    Presence's Battle Against Ich

Be careful about using meds with your tetras and especially the clown loaches. Medicines containing malachite green are dangerous for them. To do the salt and heat method, you should get the temperature to at least 86 degrees. Do this gradually over a few days. 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt...

    juvenile green terrors

Thanks! I haven't exactly participated at the site yet...I kind of feel out of place since i'm more of a fishkeeper than a photographer. It is a nice site though, and I will make more of a presence after I lurk a little while longer. :)

What kind of filter should I get for my 75 gallon?

I just set up a 75 gallon with 2 Rena Filstar xp3 canisters, and i'm happy with it so far. I'm keeping some messy cichlids though, so you may not need that much filtration.

Is it green or just me?

Yeah, it does look a little green. Does it get much sunlight from that window that is next to it? If so, it may be the cause.

    juvenile green terrors

My fish thank you for the compliments! Since last posting, they have moved into their new 75 gallon home. I'm waiting for them to grow a bit to decide which one of them I want to keep, and will find a home for the other one. It's amazing what a bigger tank will do for a fish's behaviour and...

    treatments as bad as cure?

Loaches are a pain in the butt when they get Ich, but thankfully they don't get it very often so long as you keep up the water quality. Mine only got it once in the 5-6 years during the time i had them...but I ended up losing them a few days ago to Velvet. :( Velvet is one nasty parasite to...

    picking gravel- opinions wanted

I'm using a mixture of volcanit and eco-complete on my new tank. It is a dark colored natural looking gravel (unpainted). Here's a picture of what it looks like: http://www.aquariumadvice.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=6193

    Severum

As for the particular subject about the red spotted severum, I have no idea if they are 'real' or not. There is a lot of different severum color variations that are real though. Go to http://www.tangledupincichlids.com/ and scroll down the page till you reach the picture of the wild caught...

    Newbie needs advice

Just checked Hagen's website, and you are correct. They've changed the name to Aquaclear 110. Sorry to have mislead you about this. I have two of these filters myself and usually buy my supplies online. BigAlsOnline and Petsolutions haven't changed the name yet.

    Newbie needs advice

Welcome to the hobby Mario! You're getting some great stocking advice from everybody, so I won't offer any more suggestions for that. The one thing that I wanted to mention is that the Aquaclear 500 is still called Aquaclear 500. Make sure that the parts you are getting for your filter is...
