Need A Protein Skimmer For My 55

Don't waste your money on cheap skimmers, they are the heart of your system a very important piece of equipment. If your not sure what to buy, research the Internet, read the reviews of what other people have used, and look at the top quality skimmers that are more popular.

    Blue ribbon eel

I owned one for about two weeks they are beautiful eels. Unfortunately the eel jumped out of my tank and died, so make sure you have a cover over your tank. They like places to hide as well either lots of rock or some people use PVC pipe buried under the sand. I have heard they can be picky...

LED set up on 29 gal

I had the same problem deciding what kind of led fixture to buy. I first bought the marine life led, they lit the tank nicely but I found out they didn't do well with corals. So with some research I found orphec LEDs, I have two of the fixtures hanging over my 90 gal tank. They work amazing and...

    Training my Lionfish

Yes that is correct patients it took my lion a month to eat frozen food I had to feed him live fish at first but eventually he started to eat frozen food. I feed mine shrimp, scallops, and fish. Use a transparent feeding stick they work best.

    Protiein Skimmer for 45 gallon

I also wanted to add when buying a skimmer don't cheap out research them and make sure that the skimmer you pick is going to work to your needs. You get what you pay for, I have made that mistake and bought a cheap one that did nothing. I bought the reef octopus skimmer and it works amazing!

    Protiein Skimmer for 45 gallon

The best way to go is to use a sump refugium. You can hide it under you tank. Than you can put a skimmer in the sump or hang it on the sump, this keeps everything hidden and put of sight. I personally like having everything in my sump because if anything goes wrong or overflows it won't make a mess.

Do I need light in sump if I keep my chaeto up top in my overflow?

All I use is flood lights for my cheato and it grows like crazy I have my lights on for 12 hours and it's fine. It's what you think is best.

    Snowflake eel

Mine eats frozen shrimp scallops and fish. I have never had a problem with eels eating any tank mates including fish snails or crabs knock on wood. As long as you feed your eel so isn't so hungry he goes hunting for food he should leave his tank mates alone.
