Yea I know the mollies are going to help stock the tank some. Would I be able to add a few neon tetras in as well? If so how many do you think would suffice?
The tropical tank is newer for me. I'm more familiar with fancy goldfish and their sticking guidelines are very different.

Hi all!
I've currently got a 40g breeder with 5 mollies in it 2 males and 3 females. I was wondering what else I can put in the tank and the quantities.
I do want to get a few glofish danios how many should I add? I know they like to school and are best kept in groups. Any suggestions would be...
Don't have much experience with fry at all but have you tried feeding first bites by hikari? I read on another thread that fry need to be fed more throughout the day and require more protein as they are still developing and need the extra nutrition.
I don't think that would help with the stocking issue. Just because you need more space. Would help with oxygen in the tank as well but it gets pretty pricy and can be a lot of work from what I hear and have been experiencing. But I'm not a complete expert. Maybe someone else with more...
Sorry for the crappy quality. So this is an old picture but the tune running down the side of the tank is the air line and the black round thing is a suction cup that holds the airline tubing in place. You can get them online or at your LFS near the airstones and air pumps. There is also a great...
Not completely am expert on stocking but yea that does seem like a lot of fish for the size of tank. Especially since they are live bearers and will more than likely have babies soon. Maybe check with aquaadvisor and see what they would suggest
Also forgot to mention to make sure that your light doesn't sit directly over the water. It's ideal to have it completely protected from the water because the bubbles spray water and it will corrode the light after a while.
Oh good!! Looks nice! That could work. I just use the suction cups and suction the tubing to the side of the tank but at the bottom and then burry the stone with a mound of gravel and then suction the tube again on the top and sometimes again in the middle. Sometimes it just takes creative...
Nope I just used all the water from the 15 gallon with 15 gallons of new water plus I moved the whole filter units over. So it was pretty much like doing my regular 50% water change. I would have cycled it but I didn't have another stand or anywhere to put the fish. I also added some cycle to...
Hi all!
So about two weeks ago I was doing my regular water change and cleaning on my goldfish tank and one of my Goldie's swam against the algae scrubber and scraped some scales off. I've been keeping the water clean and keeping an eye on her. No blood or red spots ever appeared just looks...
I have heard no smaller than 2.5 gallons for bettas. A heater would be best since they are tropical fish they like warmer water. I think Petco is still having their dollar per gallon sale (in California) I saw it going on last week. I am not sure if all states do it at the same time or not.
I...
Your tank looks pretty :) some people like to put them behind rocks, plants, or decorations. There are even flow control valves that you can get or that come with the air pumps (I have a tetra whisper air pump and its very quiet). That way you can control how many bubbles come out and how strong...
Do you have an airstone in your tank? There might not be enough oxygen in the water. My mollies did that once before I put an airstone in. After the airstone was in the tank they stopped going to the top.
Your tank looks awesome!
Just wondering if your tank bows slightly? I just got rid of my 40b because it was bowing and there not being a center brace freaked me out
Hi all!
Just wondering how thick are the glass panes are on a 29 glass aquarium? Couldn't find any measurements for this online and I'm just curious to see if its thicker or thinner than my acrylic aquarium by seaclear.
Thanks so much!
For glass no. Most of the weight is distributed along the brace on the edges (the black plastic rims). With an acrylic tank you will need a stand that has a bottom to it or the bottom with break off and it will be a huge mess.
Yes! I have seen so many complaints on the reviews of acrylic scratching. I'm not too worried about it since the tank is in my room against the wall so no foot traffic to worry about. Thanks so much!
