Well the tank is up and running, but the driftwood is leaching tannins. Not a huge issue, I’ll just have to clear it up with some water changes.

I’m not an expert, but I made my own root tabs. Got the gel caps on amazon and picked up a bottle of dynamite flower and vegetables 13-13-13 fertilizer.

I’ve personally used the angles plus active filters. Didn’t have any issues, I just didn’t fully stock the tank all at once. I took it slow stocking.

I know once this is setup and running I’ll get the itch again for another. When I pulled the driftwood out of this one it was falling apart. It actually looks interesting with the texture and I’m considering using it again, but I’ll wait until my LFS gets more in the next week before I decide...

Let see, ludwigia Atlantis but that's not exactly a low light plant. I could give you a nice sized stem of temple plant (hygrophilla corybmosa), or Brazilian pennywort stems. That's about it for now as I'm growing out the slow growers first.

The plant in the center that looks like bush is the "temple plant," hygrophilia corybamosa. The tall red plant to the right in the picture is the rotala and the tall red plant to the left of the picture is the ludwigia atlantis.

I keep the frogbit and water lettuce in my lower light / lower tech tank with compact fluorescents and it grow great.
