    Corals touching

I know this has nothing to do with the post, but the title of hairy mushroom touching the blue tickled me. Imagine what people not in the hobby would think

    29 Gallon Biocube Help

:) just think is it worth it at the moment to make your own water. In the UK I'm on a water meter so making RO wastes a lot of water, for every good gallon you get you waste around 4. Unless your planning on keeping corals etc straight away I would save your money for the time being and if the...

    29 Gallon Biocube Help

Did you buy an RO unit? As the pic you posted looks just to be the DI aspect of the process. Says about making your water de ionised, so unless your tap water is crystal clear the unit won't improve your water that much

    Fishless cycle problem?

If there's no fish in why don't you just use bicarbonate of soda to raise the ph for the cycling process? I did this on my tank and it kept it at 7.4, when I was ready for fish I did 2 large water changes and everything was good and still is 4 months later. I added a table spoon to my 23 gallon...

    My new Electric Blue

I love her, got her from a local breeder here in Cardiff South Wales and was told she is a girl ram, her brothers were a bit bigger. She's barley 2 inches but eating really well and since she's settled in her colours have out. Her head was almost black when I got her but turning more yellow all...

    My new Electric Blue

Just thought I'd show you the new love of my life Georgie the ram. Does totally the opposite of what all the research I've done on them and quite think shes one of the tetras in the tank.

    Need Help Can't Lower Nitrite

Change 75% water then retest, get the nitrite to readable levels, then dose a small amount of ammonia, repeat when nitrite spikes again. Keep an eye on ph too acidic and the cycle could stall, above 7 is good

    Fish less cycle advice

I agree I wouldn't add any fish till your trites are gone, can you get ammonia? Maybe just add some fish food after your water change for the ammonia source and test again in a few day? If you have cycled filter media from another tank and haven't added it yet add it. You just need to be patient

    Fish less cycle advice

I thought you may have miss read, ;) Shouldn't be to much longer on the cycle though, but bring your trites down by pwc and dose a small amount of ammonia. What are you planning on keeping? As fish said some may think ph 8 could be a little high for rams for example

    Fish less cycle advice

Don't listen to fishanatic your cycle is not over, I'm at the same stage as you, no ammonia huge nitrite spike, and nitrates. I would do a big water change to bring nitrites to a readable amount, then dose a small amount of ammonia to say 2ppm and wait, it shouldn't be long

    Newby with a small aquarium

I wasn't suggesting you keep more than one in a tank, you posted in salt water so wasn't sure what suggestions you wanted. You could do a betta and a few small tetras or snails maybe.

    Newby with a small aquarium

Not sure what your options are in salt water sorry, your gonna need a heater though. If you want fresh water get a betta fish. I'm sure others will chime in with saltwater suggestions if that's what you want

Just to add I know mrs h recently competed a fish in cycle so she's your girl if that's what your planning.

    Fishless cycle

You don't have to wait at all, the fish will provide you with the ammonia source, just make sure the water in the tank is treated and you keep the ammonia levels to below .25 what filter will you be running

    Fishless cycle

Alright mate I'm South Wales too, it's hard to find straight ammonia without any additives. Homebase do one but I tried fishless cycle with it but it contained a small amount of perfume. I used biomature bought from eBay in my 90 litre, inbox me if you want a link. Just make sure you have a...

    Blue ram in cycle

Rams are really delicate fish, I won't preach to but rams need a mature tank with low nitrates too, do you check those often? I hope your other ram is ok

    Possibly dead snail

    Is My Cycling Almost Done?

Don't add so much ammonia, you only have a small take and probably small filter so not much room for the bb to colonise. What are you planning on keeping? Are you going to have a huge bioload? Remember your tank will adapt to what you put in it. What's the point of being able to convert so much...
