Haha no worries. A medium size Turkey Baster works for me. Don't go too big tho. it's easy to suck up the fry. so be careful!! Also- don't put the breaded trap directly under light. fry are sensitive to light in the beginning. Plus gross algae could grow inside the trap making it a PITA...

The Anubias will do OK with that set up. Crypts will need some ferts or root tabs and could make it. The swords need medium to high light along with a nice substrate. if you want to have those swords live you'll have to consider upgrading to a light with a higher output. A light with At least...

It's a crypt. Crypts can live in low light but I would recommend a nutrient ditch substrate. Or you could dose some liquid ferts.

Where did she get the wood? What's it called? you need to cure all driftwood before putting it into your aquarium.

Depends on your lighting. Bettas do great with plants too. Anubias, java fern, crypts are all great starting plants. I float some water sprite in my 40 gal with moderate lighting and it goes crazy. great nitrate buster.

Algae blooms will happen in almost any planted tank without co2. u can combat this with some flourish excel or algae eating fish or co2 but u said u like it low tech. Also, natural sunlight causes algae blooms. get it out of the sun.

Actinic bulbs are for saltwater. U are going to get algae blooms and stuff from it. Get a freshwater bulb to replace it.

Probably diatoms. how is your tap water where you live? you could also leave the lights off for a day then shorten the amount of time on during the day until u see results

I mean you want your ammonia at 0ppm nitrite 0ppm and nitrate under 5ppm. If anything, you want to get your ammonia down. Reduce feeding for a few days
