    African cichlid diet

Thanks. From now on I will just stick with the pellets. They love everything I feed them so hopefully they will digest everything that they have eaten and move past this.

    African cichlid diet

So I bought a prestocked tank with an assortment of african cichlids. Mbuna and frontosa. I have been feeding them a mix of different types of worm (frozen) and pellets, plankton, etc. I just read that you should never feed them worms of any kind or they will die. So I have been feeding them...

    Fish identification

The auretus is the only aggressive fish as of now. Well he is the only one that actually physically tries to harm the others. Most of the community have I suppose some kind of rank. They don't so much attack each other but they get close and start doing a little bit of showing off. I'll keep an...

    Fish identification

Cool. Thanks!! The guy I bought the tank from had the plecos and the 6 Frontosa. He told me that they were the other kind and actually that he bred them and sold off parents. I bought the setup for $200. So I was happy. I assumed he was correct because the images I have seen of the mpimbwe had a...

Hello, I have a few fish that I am trying to identify. I think I know most of them but I am having trouble finding a few. There is one black cichlid that has some white bars that I can find nowhere. Here are some pics. There are a couple of small catfish that Are not photogenic so I didn't even...

    Plywood aquarium?

Depends on size. On depth. My 240 has 1/2". My 600 Will hace 3/4". I guess your tank will depend on the size of your glass.

    Plywood aquarium?

Yup. Even plywood is $67 for 1 sheet of 4x8 1 inch thick. That's why I say bigger is better. Because you can buy a 100-200 gallon for the same price.

    Plywood aquarium?

I will tell you that people do plywood builds because glass is expensive. I am doing 3/4" thick glass 96"x36" starfire (super clear glass) and that is roughly $1200. I have no connections with materials. That's straight up just me going into a shop not knowing anyone.

    Plywood aquarium?

It does if you do it right. Usually the bigger is best. Because the cost of glass. Depends on ur budget. If you already have glass or a hook up then great. I have to go from scratch. I do have a 240 gallon that I cracked( just back glass) so I will probably build another smaller tank using that...

Yea I sold the boat a few months ago and only did the dunes thing for one season and sold my bike and quad. Now I just look forward to the pool everyday and time to pass so I can transfer back to the cold north. I'm a big ice fisherman(well I used to be) and the hunting and fishing is just way...

I drew up my plans for my 600 gallon plywood build. I have a couple of other things that I am not sure about. I am not sure how I will do the filtration. I am looking at sump and refugium systems. I have ZERO experience with them, but I have seen some very nive ones online from DIYourselfers...

Yea. And he never got back to me. So I will have to call him back tomorrow. Just made the plans for my tank. Now I am going to attempt to input using google sketch. I think I can scale the glass down to 3/4" but I may just keep it at 1". The dimension ended up making the tank 660 gallon with OD...

Well according to their chart for 3/4" glass. I would pay $768. With 1" idk but I am sure with shipping it is less than the $2325 that they are asking for 3/4" in Phoenix.

Well I called and it sounded like they had it. She said the shipping cost would kill me. Before I got a price they hung up on me I think by accident.

I got one quote. They couldn't get me 1". So for 8'x3'x3/4" they want $2325.00. And that is with me going to pick it up 3 hours away. Seems kind of high.

For sure I pulled my plans off a forum so I hope even though the measurements are different that I can produce what the original builder made. And of course if successful to have others to feel free to use and ask questions. Big fish need big tanks. I'm all about it.
