Questions about LEDs and soft coral placement

So I recently inherited a nano tank from a friend that has been up and running for about year now, and I decided to buy some soft corals and replace some of the live rock. I started off by purchasing some new lights to support soft corals, the Beams Work 1w LED x9 which has six 10000k daylight...

    Puffer fish help!

Hey all, recently my pufferfish started getting really skinny, but would still eat up a storm, and the guys at the store said it could be internal parasites. I looked online and double checked, and followed up by buying metronidazole, and started soaking his food and feeding him. He's been doing...

    Female red empress?

My tanks a 75 gallon, and she's 2/3 the size of the male, and the males about 4.5 inches, so she's maybe 2.5 to 3 inches

    Female red empress?

So I bought a Red Empress cichlid yesterday, male, and the guy at the lfs was telling me I should breed them. I told him I wasn't really interested, but out of curiosity googled what a female looked like when I got home, and realized I might have had one already. The guy at the lfs store told me...

    Fish into cloudy water

Ok, so the nitrites in the bin they are in is just as high. Assuming that the big water change I did in the tank, should I go ahead and put them into the tank? The nitrites were the same in both the tank and the bin

    Fish into cloudy water

I'm definitely going to lower it first. But how long will they be ok in that bin with a bubbler and heater and about 20 gallons of water?

    Fish into cloudy water

Yea I'll keep am eye on it. But now that the test has say for a little bit, the nitrites are above 1.5... Ammonia isn't showing up at all. So big water change and another test? And will salinity changes shock them?

    Fish into cloudy water

Nitrites were a little high, but everything else is normal. I'm gonna do a water change, but after that will adding my fish hurt them even though the water may still be cloudy?

    Fish into cloudy water

What will show up from the bacteria bloom in the test? I'll do one now

    Fish into cloudy water

Ok, so my apartment flooded, and today they were scheduled to replace it all. Only downside, my 55 & 75 gallon tanks... I moved all my cichlids and plecos, a moray eel and a cat fish to 30 gallon bins, and the eel in his own 10 gallon tank for one night, and a day while they replaced the carpet...

75 gallon stand build 45" tall

I have the outer brackets flush with the 4x4's, along with the center supports, held together with clamps while we screwed them together. I also put a sheet of plywood along the top, and screwed those into the 2x4 outer bracket. In the end everything was level, so I figured the weight should be...

75 gallon stand build 45" tall

This is my 75 gallon tank stand I built, using nothing but 2x4's and 4x4's and 1x6's. I'm not gonna go into specifics, but if you have any questions on the measurements or how I cut something, etc. feel free to ask!

    Moving tomorrow

Thanks :) I made it so the bottom of my 75 gallon sits 45 inches tall, so that I don't have to crouch down just to see my fish haha. I'm going to put the build on the do it yourself. The whole thing cost about $160 if I recall correctly.

    Moving tomorrow

First off i wanted to thank you AndrewsPistol, for the technique you gave me, it worked very well :) I thought I'd let you know, I ended up using a 30 gallon tote, and bought a power converter to use my air pump, and had the heat on in my truck full blast. I only had one die, but he wasn't...

    Moving tomorrow

Hello, I'm moving tomorrow, and am transporting 11 cichlids, a cat fish, clown loach, pleco, and a bichir. I have had a 75 gallon at my new apartment up and running for about 7 days. I am planning on transporting my fish in 5 separate 5 gallon buckets. My question is, do I need to oxygenate the...
