    ID species request

Got this guy/gal as a left over of a local club auction. It came is very pale, almost see through, but is now eating and not shy of light anymore. I am wondering if it is one of those self cloning ones from germany or something else. Is it safe for a planted tank or my plants will be chopped...

Greetings, I am about to purchase a young tiger oscar, but the ultimate goal is to have it as a living room center piece Brazilian biotope. 2015 project: living room focal point

The time to go big AND go home has arrived. I am planning on having my first large tank (20+gal), high tech, high maintenance, high cost, high class, double high five by February 15th. I foresee strong dutch influence, at least 3 species of red plants, shrimp and (you got it) a 10+ betta...

2.5 Nano tank low light concept

So today I officially transfered, permanently, my 2 bettas to their official homes (the teiple cube concept). So now I have "behind the scenes" 1 39 gallon tank, 1 10 gallon tank and 2 2.5 tanks. Since I have 2 Fugerays (R) as spare lights, I am strongly considering making one of them a hassle...

    RCS critical, need help

Let's not make this a big deal, but I would love to learn to avoid it in the future: A pair of red cherry shrimp were given to me and placed on an aquacube 7.5 gallon. They were doing well, eating their algae, playing arround, being active. I har to rescape my cube with ADA Aquasoil, so to...

Help with CO2 setup water reflux

Any advice on avoiding water to climb up the CO2 hose? My CO2 tank can take up to 20 minutes just pushing water out of the system before actually starting to difuse. As a matter of fact, all 3 tanks have fludded difusers....:(

    1x3 triple cube aquascape concept

For those that haven't followed my saga, I am new to the hobby (started my studies/joined the forum in November 2012) and I only have one tank, but I am ready to bring things to the next level. I have been working on a custom stand that will allow me to have 3 Mr. Aqua low iron cubes forming one single aquascape. These tanks will be heavily planted, with liquid carbon, iron, dry ferts and possibly CO2. The initial concept was to have 3 male bettas but my wife is showing a desire to...

    Gardening soil mix as substrate

So today I had a casual conversation inside PetCo with an older lady that was buying about 1/2 dozen Brazilian Swords. Mr. Aqua vs TruAqua High Clarity Glass Cube

I just placed an order for the TruAqua low iron cube, and I have a Mr. Aqua (same dimensions). I am just creating the topic to see if others are interested in learning more about these two, compared side by side. Because of the price difference, if enough people show interest, I can make a...

    foreground plants and water temperature

I recently purchased some baby tears to my 7.7g aquacube (with enough lighting and daily carbon) but my tank is set as a betta tank. Being the fish my priority, the water temperature is a constant 79F, and I was wondering if baby tears would thrive better on colder waters. I believe I did a...

    Dosing Carbon

Here are two pictures of my 7.7gallon aquacube, before and after I traded some plants and did some trimming. I don't believe we should dose carbon based on water volume as the direction of Excel recommends. I was using 2.5ml/ day after Wildcats recommended that instead of 5ml every other day...
