the ph of 8.2 is just to high for those fish i had the same issues where i live the ph out of tap is 7.9 so i switched to so. africans. i kept losing my other fish to curved spine and waisting they just cant stand high ph.

i have a male and female cyno. afra hai-reef you cant tell the difference between the two unless there side by side i thought i had two males till she was holding one day. she has spectacular colors for a female.

ive read that you should change the carbon once a month, i would imagine it would all depend on your stocking load. if your over stocking the tank maybe sooner? this is just what ive read i havnt used carbon in 25 years i prefer more biological than chemical in my tanks

yes its pretty normal behaveiur the problem is if she gets to stressed she may spit the eggs or swallow them.

holding female the female wont eat till she spits the fry, i would leave her in the tank as long as possible as long as the male isnt harrasing her. i would leave her in the fry tank for a few days till shes eating and gets her strenght back then return her. congrats. :thumb:
