Hi, i awoke this morning to find my three tangs (sailfin, goldrim and regal) all have white spot. i am aware that these fish are all suseptible to white spot but i just don't know what triggered it. at the moment i am feeding about half a cube of frozen food (mysis, brine and mix) every day...

i have painted the back of my tank 'black'. it looks great, i think it is down to personal preference really. either way you won't be able to see much of it in six months because of the coraline algae!!

i've just brought a 130 gallon tank second hand. imo i would recommend that you sell the live stock (or get someone to hold them for you) and take your time setting it up how you want it, this way there is no rushh and you'll be able to get it right first time. mark

i just used normal old table (brown vineger) and it worked, i suppose it doesn't matter as long as its acidic.

i do not have the sump or the tank covered. i use kent marine salt. so, i don't need to add these mineral additives to my tank right now? i'm fed up with being told a load of old cobblers by shops. so i shouldn't worry about my PH right now then. cheers mark

can't get it in the UK either! tried B&Q, Argos and ELC. one way to test the sand to insure that it is aragonite is to pour vineger on it, if it is it will bubble! hope this helps mark

tmcpeek, instead of running a timer you could connect two float switches in series. that way if one fails he other one will stop the pump. a sort of backup system. the fancy name is dual redundancy. mark
