I have a yellow tang, starry blenny, skunk shrimp, serpent star, sand conch, 4 turbos, 20 hermits, 2 emerald crabs, 15 nerite snails, 15 astrea snails, and 20 cereith snails, a tuxedo urchin, and a long spine urchin. I still have to clean my glass everyday. I do 20% water changes weekly.

I guess im just hoping that the chaeto and the carbon will help with nitrates, silicate, and phosphate. My algae issue is bumming me out.

Yeah this all started because I have had a considerable algae bloom over the last few weeks. I clean my glass everyday which helps but many places cant be cleaned due to the rock. I put chaeto in today and im gonna start adding more carbon, as all I have now is the carbon in the hob filters...

Tommy your tank looks fantastic. You look like you have zero algae. Did adding the chaeto make a difference? Do you use rodi or a skimmer? Im adding chaeto to help battle nitrates and phosphates, cause im getting quite a bit of green/Brown film algae.

I agree here. I just got in this hobby myself. I bought a 60 gallon combo(which is almost identical to a 55) and im kicking myself in the butt for not going with a 75. The dimensions are so much better if your interested in corals. Its deeper rather than taller, giving you more room for corals...

Yeah the lfs in my area are high on fish. And im really not comfortable buying on line. But truthfully I would rather pay more to buy something I see eat with my own eyes and acting healthy.

Are potters difficult to care for? Live aquaria says they are but i know sometimes they say that for one specific reason, such as a copperband being difficult to get to start eating. Wondering what the story is on a potters?

Well the reason I asked was that I was going to order 25lbs of Florida live rock that has tons of life on it. Corals, polyps, mushrooms, dusters, etc. If curing it in my 29 gallon will kill off the life it comes with ill just scrap that idea and stick to base rock, and just buy frags.

Well I went with the aquatic life 4 bulb. Im really glad I did too. I love being able to program dawn and dusk and now I added some star polyps and other polyps and so far so good. All are perked up and looking great!

Right on! Im glad to hear positive responses. Cool and helpful hitchhikers are one of the things that really interest me about aquariums. Its cool putting things in your tank on your own, but seeing neat critters just appear day by day is coolest! I really looking forward to what every new day...
