    plants dying

Dwarf hair grass is a low-moderate light plant so they would be fine, unless you have old bulbs that have lost their heat lighting affects. (around a year is when this starts to go)

    Is anything friendly with Betas?

Note: put all 4 female bettas in at the same time, If they start fighting DO NOT take out the bully. Only take out the injured betta. By removing the bully the other bettas would fight so see who's the dominate betta till the death.

    Fish not eating

I think it may be that there is some salt left over that you didn't get out of the tank.

    Fish not eating

A lot of the time a fish wont eat after a fairly big move into a new tank until they settle in....Don't be nervous if they don't eat for a few days. When the time comes they will probably have enough to eat.....And moving them into a salt tank might be bad but im not sure....

    Stock question

Bettas don't need a lot of oxygen in a tank unlike most fish, they can also gulp form the surface is they need to but most of the time they do fine without filter/pump. In the wild during dry seasons bettas can live months in puddles that don't have any air circulation. (that's why they can live...

    Stock question

I wouldn't add a guppy and a filter isn't needed. If she upped the wc to 2 times a week she could add shrimp, or snail(s), dwarf frog or just some plants :)

    help with semi-self-sustaining ecosystem

Its possible to have a tank that's planted with fish and not do water changes but im not sure about food chain. Shrimp would be good and the babies could be eaten but I don't think they would breed quick enough....Youre probably best of researching different water bugs that are small and breed...

75L freshwater tank - what to put into it?

Hmmmm I think most standard/cheaper heaters you would see at a chain store come pre set at 78f which is fine for most fish, including white clouds :) and I don't think plants care about heat...unless its very hot/very cold.

75L freshwater tank - what to put into it?

Red cherry shrimp are very easy and can be cheap depending on where you love. They are very cheap from breeders and a lot more from chain stores. I let lots of algae grow on rocks in my tank plus they get some left over food fish don't eat. You can also feed also wafers cut up and fresh veggies
