Well, over a week later and the ick seems to be gone!! yay!! :multi: :multi: :multi: The heat/salt treatment does seem to work, i didn't even attempt to use meds. I jsut followed the advice from everyone here and my lfs and it worked! I still have my temps up and will for another week...

we have 3 filters on our 5 gal tank and the only paroblem it seems to cause is a lot of current. So go right ahead, enjoy your filtration! :D :D

I'm using the heat/salt treatment for ick right now in my 20 gal, and i have a rubberlip pleco in there. He seems to be doing fine with the salt and the temp is at 82F, and we're well into day three. Betcha your pleco will be just fine. Good luck! :D

lol..sounds too funny...my pleco amuses me often lately ( i have to get out more!!) :lol: I'm hoping that he likes the food...doesn't seem to show much interest in anything else i feed the fish...likes his driftwood though rarely leaves it :D

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I ended up using my brandnew metal-less hair elastic to tie down the piece of zuccini. I hope he likes it! 8)

can anyone tell me if there are any good fish stores in the edmonton area, other than the obvious chain stores (petsmart etc) and big al's?? I don't find that big al's is very newbie friendly, plus they're waaaaaaaay on the other side of the city from me!! :D Thanks for the help

might sound stupid, but id like to give my pleco some zuccini, but i have nothing but twist ties or hair elastics(no metal) to tie the zuccini down with...any suggestions??

Nah, snail was dead, poor bugger. Didn't move for a couple of days, his shell was cracked with a small hole when we got him, and his shell was losing colour and looking thin when BF took him out of the tank. (was almost transparent in places) thanks for the fyi though, we'll remember that...

Well, it's day to of ick treatment, just did a 10% pwc with a small amount of salt in it and light gravel vac. When i was done adding my water back in i noticed my danios were going absolutely psycho! Weirder than they were even doing yesterday! is that because of this it's neat to watch...

the bio stuff is big al's multi-purpose bio support water conditioner is proquatics. BF hasn'tused the bio support in a bit and has vacced the tank a couple of times over the last week or so. Should we add more of the biosupport?? He doesn't listen to me much...figures he knows more than...

We have done daily 10-25% changes plus i believe he has tried a 50% change as well. He's adds conditioner with every change and he's used some bio stuff(not sure what it's called) to the water in ha few changes as well. I guess i'll just have to be patient, although i have LFS stumped as to...

thanks Apocolypse! I just turned up the heat this morning (6-ish hours ago) and it's up to 27C from 25C. Does that 2 degrees make such a big difference??

I don't know if this is related to ick at all...but my fish are now doing something kinda wierd!! :? One Neon will go up to the glass and kinda look like it's kissing it...the rest of the neons shortly follow suit, then the danios and the serpae's, kinda. what's up with that?

We used substrate from a friends 20 gal, filled it up and let it run for a couple of days b4 we put anything in it. Tested the parameters, everything checked out ok. So we put in 3 danios to start. checked again in a few more days, everything was still peachy, so we went and got a few more...

there are 2 zebra danios in the 5 gal and 1 java fern

thanks for the welcome! I have 2 other tanks as well, a 5 gal and a 2 gal, 5 gal has really high nitrite levels right now, we're still cycling it, and the 2 has high ammonia levels, so i can't put my plec in either of them :( As of yet there is no salt in my 20 gal
