U could get screens made like frames with mesh that will drop right In to the tank lip and use larger size mesh so it dosnt affect ur lighting that's what's going on mine when it's set up

Well sort of I googled it plexi is a brand of acrylic but it is harder than most other brands. Now to look on there web page and see if they have tinted plexi at HD or lowes

Well there is ur flaw PVC glue dosnt melt it together like the old abs glue and pipe did PVC glue is more like epoxy or fiber glass resin or the silicone on ur tank it sticks it together using the cleaner helps a little it softens the pipe and fitting so the glue can have somthing to hold

Well ur right but the vibration isn't a good thing if u look at any thing really there is something to isolate the vibration from the piping and u could do it in the 3 inches u have to make up anyways it doesn't take much flex and my pump was a mag 5 with a rubber pad pipe not touching anything...
