That's a good idea. Other fish are healthy and water parameters are good. Not too worried about disease. I think he was picked on for being little, hence the missing lip. From there he was unable to eat and I think e just died. I'm still perplexed as to which of my fish took a bite out of him :-(

Help! I turned my aquarium lights on today to find this! (See pic) I have a 55g with: 3x Tiger Barbs (#4 is no more obviously) 4x Green Barbs 1x baby firemouth cichlid 1 small common Pleco 3x silver dollars I think the deceased is the one I noticed missing a mouth/lip the other day :(

Why do they nip in small groups but not in larger? Seems like the bigger the group the more confident and aggressive they would be.? Just curious :-) Also, LFS guy told me silver dollars can be alone, so that's kind of disappointing that I have to make another trip back. Oh well!

Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like a common Pleco to me. I personally wouldn't have introduced a Pleco or a few months, but I'm a newbie here so what do I know? ;-) Welcome to the forum!

Also, I just had to add - my firemouth cichlid who has been in hiding since the day I got him, seems to now think that he is a silver dollar. He swims right along with them, exploring the tank and trying to play catch up with them. So cute!

Well I got LFS to take my tiger Oscar - with much reluctance lol. I kept the firemouth and got 2 silver dollars and 4 tiger barbs. My common Pleco is in there too. LFS said no no no when I asked if I could get an electric blue. You guys think otherwise?

Well it worked for now and I'm relieved to have clear water. I do understand what you're saying and agree, but I'm basically stumped - if my water parameters are perfect and it isn't algae and I'm not over feeding or over stocked and I have adequate filtration, then what else can I fix?
