    Diving ID

No kidding. I have several friends who were part of the relief effort after the earthquake. Considering how far away Okinawa is from the mess, here's hoping it has minimal effects on the sea life. It's bad enough when a big typhoon comes in and beats up the reef. It's painful to see huge...

    Diving ID

Greg, I definitely can't complain about being stationed out here considering the amazing diving in our backyard. Makes me wish I had a tank with never ending capacity so I could bring stuff home (if it were legal of course).

    Diving ID

Hey guys, Went diving with the wife on Saturday and we saw a bunch a great stuff even with the poor visibility. Managed to get some pics of a couple of "frags" of some awesome coral and wanted to confirm ID. I think the first one is a chalice and I believe the second pic has two different...

    Tiny Pocillopora eating worms?!?

Ok guys, so I had a colony of pocillopora that started bleaching from the bottom up. After doing some research and reading through lots of forums, I was convinced it was suffering from slow tissue necrosis. I decided to pull the colony and frag some of the unaffected pieces. I did my fragging...

    Probably an easy ID

Thanks for the replies and info everyone. Yeah, I read the same after doing a bunch of research, saw how hard it is to keep the poor things. Wouldn't have room in my tank even if I wanted one.

    Probably an easy ID

Saw this at one of the LFS here in Japan. One of the guys brought it up to the top of the tank then let it drop. All of the branches started making a swimming motion. Very cool but what exactly is it? Hard to keep?

    What kind of mushroom?

Picked this little guy up the other day and I'm trying to figure out what kind of shroom it might be. Not sure if he's bleached out or that's just how lightly he is colored. Thinking Ricordea. Any thoughts?

What kind of coral is this?

Looks like a majano pest anemone. Very cool looking but spread pretty quick.

    Sump setup

So I picked up a 34 gallon tank w/ stand and a 5g sump today and plan on moving my 20g over in the near future. I currently have an AC-70 HOB refugium on my 20 and want to build a fuge into the new sump. This sump has a separate box/chamber that stacks on top of the main chamber and that the...

    Button Polyps?

Thanks for the responses guys. AbsolutFaye- I actually got them from one of our LFS here in Okinawa, Japan. For that rock and a rock the same size with bright green zoas I paid 500 yen or about $7. The owner doesnt speak much english and I kinda figured since they were in the same tank as...

    LTA vs Hammer Coral

So my LTA decided to pull itself out of the sand and got blown around and into my hammer. Needles to say both their tentacles look like they took a beating, the hammer looking worse than the LTA. His tentacles look burnt almost. Is the hammer going to be ok?

    Button Polyps?

Picked these guys up yesterday along with a colony of zoas. The best could find doing research was button polyps but I'm not sure. They are about the size of a quarter and pretty much look like zoas on steroids.

    Coral ID please

The guy at the LFS threw this piece of what I think is coral into the bag with the electric blue leg hermit we bought. I've looked through liveaquaria but I can't figure out what exactly it is.

    Hitch hiker crab ID

Discovered this guy in a Liverpool I recently acquired. Been keeping an eye on him and he has been munching on detritus from his rock. Should I move him to my fuge?

    Help ID this coral

Yeah from what I read its a deep water non photosynthetic coral. It'll eat small fish and other meaty foods. Founds tons of pics on google, they look great when they're all opened up.

    Help ID this coral

That's exactly what the tentacles reminded me of but the base looked like a branching hammer base...no clue. This one was marked for ¥9000 or about $110...pricey
