As you say, it could be a deceptive pic, but the dorsal and caudal fins don't look right for a lancer. My first thought was an Asian upside down fish, but I don't know.... Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    Green Sev eye colour

I'm not sure if it's relevant, but the one with the olive green eyes is usually a darker colour than the other one, and although he bosses the other one he is quite skittish with me. The one with the red eyes comes to the glass to check me out, but his body colour is often quite pale, and...

    Green Sev eye colour

I have two young green severums: one has orange eyes, while the other has olive green eyes. Is this a normal variation? Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Under gravel filter

Oooh I missed this reply. Sounds similar to what I was thinking of with a canister instead of hob. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    Barebottom

In time your loach will toss most of the soil/gravel out of your pots and make a right mess of your lovely bare bottom. Been there!! :-/ Discus look stunning against jet black sand. A thin layer will prevent a build up of detritus, and eliminate the danger of gas pockets forming. Then cap the...

    Under gravel filter

Personally, I think it would be a perfectly acceptable means of filtration in such a small tank. Just gravel vac with your weekly water changes and it should be fine. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    Under gravel filter

Has anyone had experience using an under gravel filter in conjunction with a canister filter? Ie attaching the canister intake to the under gravel filter? Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    Best Foods

Wow interesting if tangled discussion. Unfortunately all I came away with is a confused noggin and a mistrust of what anyone claims. My fish love Thera A and H2O stable wafers. They HATE the jumbo formula and surface feeder formula. I bought a couple of buckets of new era food. The discus...

Fish are like kids- what they like and crave to eat isn't usually what's good for them ? Healthy foods can seem quite boring even to fish. It's our responsibility to provide them with a balanced nutritious diet that meets their individual requirements. For my fish, that includes premium dry...

    Lip locking

They've settled down now. They will all be moved out of that tank in a week as I'm replacing it with a brand new one. I think those two are ready to breed, so I'll put them in one of my quarantine tanks when it becomes empty. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice
