Hello I just got a female betta and was wondering if cherry shrimp would be compatible with her, or should I be giving her ghost shrimp as treats?

I am looking into getting 1 dwarf puffer, saw they can do freshwater fine. Is this true and what would be best set up, feeding, tank mates, etc.
