    Dary's tank!

From LA " The One Spot Foxface may be housed with more aggressive fish since predators and aggressors will tend to leave it alone because of its venomous dorsal spines."

    Salt mixing

I achieve the same result with 3 cups of Red Sea Coral Pro on a standard 5gal white jug they use at fish stores.

    Curing Live Rock

I sure am happy I haven't put this rock in my tank. It would've wiped out my SPS corals in no time. The rock is going through cycling. I'm guessing another 10-14 days because I put some old filter media with beneficial bacteria in the bucket.

    Lighting for sps

Not to mention that many T5 fixtures make a chiller "must have".

    Glass Lid. Yay or nay?

Eggcrate at Home Depot. $14.99 for 4x2 piece then cut it based on your tank specification and hang on back filtration if any. You can do it with regular scissors.

    Lighting for sps

Two of the LFS in my area always try to convince me to get T5 lighting. Interestingly enough both stores are run by "old schoolers" in their mid to late 60s. The stores that sell the most SPS use LED lighting…Radions and Kessils in particular. One of the stores is Vividaquariums. Half of their...

    Salt mixing

You can mix days before. My LFS recommends storing saltwater in dark room temperature spot. Heater on if necessary to bring the heat up as close to tank temp as possible.

    Salt mixing

Depends on what mix one uses. Red Sea recommends 30 mins to 4 hrs. Mine is usually ready within 20 mins.

    Dary's tank!

Why not a Foxface? Your trigger probably wouldn't mess with the foxfaces dorsal spines.

    Glass Lid. Yay or nay?

I only use half of the glass lid to prevent little bubbles hitting my lights.

    Salt mixing

Rule of thumb is half baking cup per one gallon of water.

Marine Aquarium Expo (MAX) in Costa Mesa, CA

No but I've heard its nice and not as commercialized as Reefapalooza. I might go.

    Dary's tank!

Or Convict Tang. Those guys go to town eating algae and fairly cheap. $20 give or take

    Dary's tank!

    Correction: Chevron Tang

Blonde Naso & Lt tang compatability

Do you have a lot of Live Rock? Nasos get huge and I am speaking from my observation of them in the ocean...not just by the book. I probably wouldn't do it but you can give a try with a possibility of re homing the Naso if things don't work out.

    Curing Live Rock

I've been given a piece of Live Rock. It had been out of water for a week or so. It's been put in a 2 gallon bucket with saltwater from my tank and a powerhead. How long before it becomes cured and safe to put in a reef tank? Thanks.

    Dary's tank!

I agree. A Kole tang would be great. If you want something rare and don't mind driving up to Long Beach, Age of Aquariums has a Cevron Tang for $150.

    Need help with clown

Get a smaller one and use an acclimation box like this for at least an hour to let the established clown check out the new one. It worked for me.

We're do you buy your salt?

They had to send one order 3 times due to the bucket breaking in shipping. Don't know whose fault it is...foster smith or UPS but it made me uncomfortable waiting 3 weeks for a bucket of salt

Also, a lot of the male Lubbocks fairy wrasses have purple coloration on them. They usually cost $20-$30, a good deal

If your budget permits go for a Hilfrichi firefish. They are awesome looking fish. Otherwise a purple firefish is nice as well.

It should be ok. A friend of mine has a bicolor dottyback and it ate his shrimp in the reef tank. So be careful. If I were to get a dottyback it would be either a Fridmani or Springeri.

A Cherub Angel would be nice. I had one before. It's the only dwarf angel I would trust in a reef tank He can harass newcomers so you should add it last if you go that route. Flameback angel has nice blue coloration as well but I have seen them nip at corals and clams.

    Dary's tank!

Is that for your frag tank? A Kole tang would be great though for algae control, etc. I was surprised to observe them to just kind of hang out in one area instead of swimming around a lot like other tangs. May be a small Naso for 100 if you can put it in your 300 later but with a clown tang...
