    Unhealthy betta?

Ok I'll do a water change right away and make sure everything's working proper. Something strange I noticed is that she's making a bubble nest or at least that's what it looks like. Does this mean anything?

    Unhealthy betta?

Yeah it just seems out of character. She's usually pretty active and swims with the neons. But she might just be lazy too.

    Unhealthy betta?

My betta has recently been sitting on the bottom of my tank. She doesn't look bloated or like any things wrong. She comes up for air when needed. Let me know what you think

    Algae on live plants

I've been struggling with algae growing on my plants for a while now and I'm not completely sure what do to. My tank is cleaned almost weekly and haven't had a fish die in about a year. It's a 10 gallon with 6 neons, 2 black neons, a female betta, and some MTS. I'm thinking of getting some more...

    oily film

I have it on my tank occasionally. It comes and goes. Looks kind of oily and breaks up into chunks almost when you break the surface right?

Do I need a protien skimmer?? Just corals

I'm gonna be getting a reef tank in the near future and I'm only planning on doing a coral tank. As this will be my first reef tank, I'm planning on doing a 10 gallon tank. Question is do I really need a protein skimmer if all I'm putting in are corals and no fish?? Hope to get some replies! Thanks

    Vacation

I can get someone to come and pour water in on day 7. (Most of my trips are about 10 days) yes this is my first saltwater tank. I have been keeping freshwater for 2 years with much success. Never had any "catastrophes" with my tank so everything's been good.

    Vacation

I'm going to be getting a nano reef with corals only. We go on vacation quite a bit and I'm wondering how long corals (eg zoas) could go without maintenance. I would really appreciate your replies on this one!! Thanks

    Do I need a sump?

I'm gonna be starting a reef tank soon and I'm wondering if I need a sump or not. I'm planning on having a 10 gallon (maybe a little bigger) tank with a hang on back filter. No fish for now just wanting coral. Let me know what you think!

    Ro di experience

Soo I'm getting a reef tank soon! Just some questions on how other people do with their ro di systems. Is it a pain to use or pretty easy for the most part. Any tips or tricks? Hope to get some replies!

    Tap water for reef

I think I'm going to start an nano reef tank soon and I'm pretty excited. I've been doing lots of research and looking on YouTube and some people only use reverse osmosis water for their reef tank. Does anybody know if I can use tap water instead?? I live in Alberta Canada if that makes any...

How hard is it to keep nano cube?

I'm thinking of maybe starting a reef nano cube. I've had freshwater fish for the last 2 years with great success. I love the ocean so much and want a little piece of it with me. I figured a nano cube is a bit easier than a full on tank because the filtration is compacted. I would really...

Is this algae, or a creature? IDK!! :(

I think I have those I'm my tank too. When I use the gravel vacuum in some places I can see tiny hair like things sticking to the tube so they don't get sucked up and then let go once I relieve the pressure. They're not very long either

    Thinking about breeding fish.

Originally I wanted to breed guppies. It was pretty interesting to see how it works and I liked it. However, after I had a couple batches of guppies, I was at the limit to my tank and couldn't stop them from breeding. I also wanted to get neon tetras but had to wait a long time to find places...

    Post your neon pics here!

    They're so expensive in Edmonton! They're 4 or 5 bucks a fish

    Tank Population

All depends on size of the fish. Rule of thumb is 1 inch per gallon with smaller fish. However if you had a 20" fish, obviously 20 gallons is not enough. What kind of fish are you planning on adding?

    Post your neon pics here!

They're always moving so its so hard to get good shots. I really like how they look in your tank with the plants and dark substrate

    Breeding neon tetras

I've had my neons drop eggs before but haven't been able to breed successfully. It wasn't my intention to breed them but they do spawn lots in my tank. In order for the eggs to develop properly, they need to be in darkness and are photosensitive. It's important to have nothing that could destroy...
