Wouldn’t say it’s normal for yoyo loaches to do that either ime. Apart from getting a few more and checking water I can’t think of much else besides keeping an eye on it. Older ones I’ve found can look dead to the world in the morning and out in afternoon so fingers crossed just settling in.

Just wondering for the OP if dosing was as per instructions? Normally the change in water colour ime is pretty persistent (lasts days in mine and plenty of threads that note ornaments have colour change (from the dye)). Apart from the carbon as above posts, maybe tank high in organics or soil...

Done an ammonia test to rule out chemical burns (hydrogen peroxide will also do it but bleach, etc as well).

Just wondering if the water softener is still working ok? And if any ph / gh / kh readings before and after water softener plus in tank. I’m guessing that if you have removed any carbonate sources in your tank then it’s the source water used in water changes.

Congo tetras I think would do well in a tank that size. Not sure how that would fit in your list but a thought. I’ve kept them in 150 gallon but I think the larger tank would suit them. Maybe spanner barbs or some of the larger, non-nippy ones.
