Betta Fish: Is it Fin Rot?

Update: I did get him to eat a few hikari betta pellets just now. It seems as though he wants to move but the left fin is making it exhausting for him to swim

Betta Fish: Is it Fin Rot?

Symptoms: I have a male veil tail who doesn't move unless the water is disturbed, and his left fin looks very thin or possibly erroded (except for the "shaft" bits) When he moves he has to move the left fin a lot faster than the right. His tail is raggedy too. I haven't seen any fuzz or black...

    Powerhead Flow Rate?

I was under the impression that when attached to a power head that they sucked the debris back into the tank so the filter could pick it up, rather than letting it sit under the gravel til vacuumed out? It would obviously not be the only filtration, I'd have two Aqueon Quietflows running as well

    Powerhead Flow Rate?

I am putting my Golden (Chinese) Algae Eater and my Zebra Danios in a 30 gal (36x12x16?) and since both CAEs and Danios like some water movement, I am going to add a power head and undergravel filtration. I am entirely unsure what gph the powerhead should have. Does anyone know?

    adding a brace to a 4x2x2?

How would one go about adding a cross brace to an already made 4x2x2 foot tank? or a longitudinal one for that matter? Wood being the preferred material.

    Manzanite+Flowy Tails= Bad?

I was going to get some driftwood for a new tank, and I really like how the manzanite driftwood looks especially from this site Manzanita-Driftwood.com, but then I realized It has really spiky twigs. Is that liable to damage a comet goldfish's tail? I know you aren't supposed to have spiky stuff...

    goldfish show off.

Almost, mine were actually used as a centerpiece at a banquet. It was given to my sister because she was a waitress for the event. They (there's 2, the other is a common) were in a 2 gal bowl my dad had for a month or two before i got my 29 gal. It's been almost a year, but it looks like I'll...

    goldfish show off.

:) Thanks :) I wasn't sure he was a comet, so glad to hear you think he is. With any luck I'll have a 120 gal for him in the next 2 weeks. I'm stupendously excited.

Guess i am doing it wrong

Lol same story Lol I'm in the same boat. I started with goldfish in a bowl too, now in a 30 gal, about to go into a 120. My poor boyfriend is going bonkers because I talk about fish stuff so much. I think there needs to be an emotional support forum on here :)

    Giant Danio care

I have a poor lonely solitary giant danio with little room to swim and no companions, so I would like to get some more and move them into a 120 gallon with 2 common goldfish and a common pleco. However, i hear they need 72+ degree water. Does anyone know if they will be ok at around 70? Zebra...

help with 195 gallon plywood tank design

I'm attempting to design a a plywood aquarium 30"x30"x50" for some goldfish some giant danios and a common pleco, and I'm not sure how thick the plywood should be. I was thinking 1.5 inches on the bottom, as per youtube's uarujoey's huge ray aquarium with a plywood bottom, but I don't know how...

How long will glass tanks last?

ok sounds pretty good :) I'm getting a big second hand one, which is already probably a half a decade or a decade old, and I'll probably use it for the next twenty years or so (I've got common goldfish) and I'd rather not have to worry about 120 gallons of water flooding my floor. That'd be bad...

    Comet tank dimensions?

So after a long and tedious search, I think I have found a tank for my comet goldfish and pleco. It is 120 gallons, 48" long, 24" wide. Is the length going to be fine? I made sure to get a wide one so they could turn around.

    75 gallon goldfish & pleco?

Will a 75 gallon tank satisfy area/space requirements for two comet goldfish and a common pleco? If it depends on the shape, suggestions are welcome. From what I've heard, water quality problems can be cleared up with good filtration and water changing habits.

    Anyone have any ideas?

If that is the case, can plecos and goldfish be suitable companions? At about 72 degrees in a 110-125 gallon well filtrated tank wouldn't both of them be happy? The pleco wouldn't suck on the goldfish as they sleep?

    bioload on a 75 with a pleco?

If a common pleco was kept in a 75 gallon tank, would one be able to keep other fish in there as well? gouramis and giant danios for example, I assume angels and similar fish would be in danger of getting sucked upon by the pleco? I'm not sure where the bio load requirements end and the space...

    Anyone have any ideas?

Just a public service notice, I've been browsing fish forums for quite some time, since I'm a beginner but I really care about taking proper care of fish, and only twice have I ever seen "try rehoming it" be a useful suggestion. If I could rehome it, I would. I can't though. Same goes for my...

    Anyone have any ideas?

I just got these guy and could use some help getting specifics on what they are. The one is obviously a pleco, but I don't know what kind. One is a gourami, I don't know which variety. The last fish is a giant danio, I think. I also don't know what kind of frog is with them. Assuming they are...
