I know this guy is in trouble, I'm just not sure what to do about it. I left my office last Friday and had noticed the fish were all just kinda hiding out that day. I figured no big deal, just like corals fish do different things on different days. Then when I came in on Monday 3 of 4 fish...
My Golden Stripe Maroon has two purple dots on it's yellow stripe just in front of his pectoral. Yes the spots are purple, I checked with the white led's only and there is no doubt, the spots are purple.
My Yellow Polyps are closed all the time. They used to open and flowing all the time. Last time I checked the water it was fine, parameters all where they should be. Salinity was good, PH was a little low, but not too far gone.
I've been reading that Coral Beauties can/will eat my corals. I've read if it doesn't happen sooner it will happen later and it's a mater of time. Anybody heard or seen this for them selves. The reviews are numerous so I just thought I'd ask for some thoughts and opinions. I'm just starting...
I've got quite a bit of build up of algae, slime, whatever all over my in tank equipment. I'm wondering if and how often some of you may clean your DT equipment. I don't have a sump and do not plan to have one anytime soon. Also, I believe my tank is still in the 'ugly stage.' Thanks in...
So iv'e got these little guys in various places on rocks and what not, they're alive but no bigger that about a 1/2 inch at most. I would say they're more a light shade of brown than white. Anybody know what these guys are? Are they bad?
I was looking through the tank and noticed these little hairs growing all over the place. Rocks are at different heights. I think it may be Green Hair Algae, it's fuzzy and short, and green. I can take the rock out but would like some advice from you guys first. HELP!!!
Edit: I've already...
Right now it's just an empty glass box. I haven't even taken the rattle can to it yet. I'd love some ideas about equipment and other such things. let me know what you think. Oh and it will be a reef.
I'm pretty sure I've got some Coraline Algae going, it's pinkish purple and there's little spots and growths all over my LR. However, I finding little brown spots on my glass and some foggy areas as well. The spots come off with some effort and my fingernail, however the foggy or...
I'm sure somebody out there knows this, anybody recognize it? I found it growing one of my LR while I was re-reef-scapeing my reef scape. I also found a free floating Zoa, however in my attempt to recover it was blown into my 10 gallon abyss... Here's the pic
:thanks:
Here it is. The all to popular, "Am I feeding too much or too little?" Question, question. I have the Eheim auto feeder and it works like a swiss clock. I have a 10 gallon tank and the feeder is set for two rotations which give one healthy pinch of dried Mysis. That's one healthy pinch, not...
I know the Hammer is photosynthetic, however I was wondering if there is a safe method of increasing it's growth rate. I know, I know, patience... Just wondering is anybody knows of a 'Steroid' for getting the hammer to grow quicker.

I seem to come across these negative testimonials about the API test kits. Mine seems to be fairly accurate, I've taken samples to the lfs. Thoughts and opinions please...?
:thanks:
Just wondering about maximizing the space in a tank and allowing the LR to rest against the glass. Anybody have thoughts or ideas about this? Is there an unspoken rule about it? Is it cheating?
I usually buy my salt water from my lfs, however I've read that mixing your own is better. So that's the question? Which method do you think is best?
I've run into some balancing issues and have no problem with the chemistry (so far) but, it's got me thinking, "If I mix my own will I have...
The guy at my lfs told me my carbonate hardness needed to be higher, closer to 200. It's currently 9 drops - 161.1 and my PH has dropped to 7.8, I'm using the API Reef Master Test Kit. I picked up some SeaChem buffer today and added a half cap to my 10 gallon. I retested and my PH is up to...
I've used the search thread and really been unable to find anything by way of protein skimmers for a 40 gallon. Nothing real recent anyway. I've seen a lot of members talking about the Reef Octopus product and I have no doubt they are good. That being said I'm wondering what anybody else is...
I spotted this guy today and know its's a sea star but don't know the type. I guessed Brittle Star but the lfs, who sold me the rock with the hitchhiker, said it's a 'Coral Star.' Of course I googled Coral Star and found nothing that looks like what I see. So if you could please check the pic...
